Paradise Roasters
Paradise Roasters was founded on the principles of “sourcing fantastic green coffee” and “roasting to order.” These principles have brought much recognition to Paradise, most notably through coffeereview.com and Ken Davids’ 100-point coffee-rating scale. Numerous coffees have been reviewed, all of which have received 90 points or above. Current reviews are linked on relevant product pages for your convenience. You can compare our in-house scores to Coffee Review’s, and then try the coffee yourself to see what you think.
What is ordered today is what we roast tomorrow; this is called roast-to-order. Monday through Friday, a roast schedule of the previous day’s orders is generated. We roast only what was ordered - plus a little extra for quality control - and then package each order for shipment.
Food & Wine magazine listed us in the top-ten boutique coffee roasters of the US, while National Geographic designated Paradise Roasters as one of the ten best coffees in the world in their book Passport to the Best: The 10 Best of Everything.

GREAT DARK ROASTED COFFEE (on Espresso Nuevo )
samuellaw178 | samuellaw178 | Tue, 01/31/2012This coffee is a little on the dark roast style but not burnt at all. I too wouldn't say it compares similarly to Redbird. Red Bird in my experience is a much sweeter nutty caramel, without any bitterness. While Nuevo is very chocolatey shot with a hint of bitterness finish, with creamy body and decent complexity I would say it's a very decent choice for dark roast coffee if that's your style. In milk drink, it stands out very well and I wouldn't have hesitation ordering it again. But with it, I would prefer milk drink than straight shots.
THIS COFFEE BLEW (on Espresso Nuevo )
XCV | XCV | Sun, 01/29/2012mostly burnt tobacco and heavy smoke like a campfire some chocolate notes the guy who compared this to RedBird is without palate. Suffered through 5lbs of this.
NOT YOUR FATHER'S ROBUSTA. (on S.O. Espresso Coffee...)
intrepid510 | intrepid510 | Thu, 01/19/2012I had to redo this review, when I originally received this coffee I made three espresso from it and they were very good with strong vanilla flavor, so much so it was like some put a little bit of syrup in it. I really liked it a lot. However, over the course of the next few days this coffee has become extremely wood tasting that is not pleasant at all.
THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT (on Espresso Classico )
intrepid510 | intrepid510 | Wed, 01/04/2012This has been a great espresso, bright front with a sweet caramel finish that does really well as an espresso and in smaller espresso based milk drinks, giving it a bit of a buttery texture and finish. My only complaint is that I have not really liked it as drip coffee. I was very impressed with the shipping of Paradise Roasters, both orders around the holidays and made it to me in three days from MN to CA and then the nice gold clip with the bags that make it easy to keep shut.
EXCELLENT (on Espresso Nuevo )
intrepid510 | intrepid510 | Thu, 12/29/2011Excellent blend, I think this compares very much to Red Bird Espresso, lots of chocolate with a lot cherry and other dark stone fruit, really love it!
SMOOTH (on Espresso Nuevo )
123scy | 123scy | Tue, 12/20/2011I'm unable to give it a 5 due to the limitations of my machine, not the coffee. When I get the LaPavoni Pro up and running, this will likely go to a 5. Very nice, smooth espresso, no trace of harshness, excellent crema.
A GREAT ESPRESSO (on Espresso Nuevo )
Wakeknot | Wakeknot | Fri, 11/18/2011this is one of my favorite dark roasts. I am usually a lighter roast guy, but Paradise is great.
A NICE ROAST (on S. O. Espresso Brazi...)
Wakeknot | Wakeknot | Fri, 11/18/2011this is an easy drinking SO espresso. Very enjoyable.
LIGHT ROAST (on Ethiopia Yirgacheffe...)
pokeypine | pokeypine | Thu, 11/10/2011Received as a very light roast (label description and appearance) contrary to description on the site. Much stronger floral notes than fruity and with a strong black tea flavour component. Very mild . It could probably be enhanced as a medium roast instead of light.
NOT MY CUP (on Ethiopia Sidama Ardi...)
tjbv | tjbv | Tue, 10/25/2011The other reviewers here were sensing qualities I did not. Each to his own, etc. I am fondest of medium roasts, and this was light roasted for reasons spelled out elsewhere. Regardless, the proof is in the cup, and for me it smelled rather of clean old rags, but tasted better. Yet thin and high-pitched--not at all syrupy or like chocolate. Not for me, but perhaps for you.
ESPRESSO NUEVO (on Espresso Nuevo )
paul.nibber | paul.nibber | Tue, 10/25/2011These beans were not the 'dark' roast I had expected. There was no carbony taste to the espresso and yet it kept a lot of citrus and floral type notes. This blend far exceeded my expectations and I look forward to ordering it again.
THIS IS A GREAT BLEND FOR (on Espresso Nuevo )
Karrde | Karrde | Mon, 10/24/2011This is a great blend for milk based drinks, I am definitely a fan. You can check out my more detailed review here: http://www.roaste.com/CoffeeBlogs/Karrde/What-Im-Drinking-Paradise-Roasters-Expresso-Nuevo
SOLID PERFORMER (on Espresso Classico )
delaroast | delaroast | Sun, 10/23/2011smooth flavor with a bit of fruit. I find it a bit soft to cut through milk, but it won't let you down.
WE'RE NOVICE ESPRESSO MAKERS (on Espresso Nuevo )
hanna | hanna | Tue, 10/18/2011We're novice espresso makers in our house but this makes a really good macchiato. We'll probably buy it again sometime soon.
PRETTY GOOD (on Espresso Nuevo )
mlmckain | mlmckain | Fri, 10/14/2011This coffee has a good taste, not bitter, and reasonably well balanced. I still prefer Mr. Espresso Viennese blend however.
TOO SWEET (on Ethiopia Sidama Ardi...)
mtmctm | mtmctm | Tue, 10/04/2011good but almost sweet. not for me
ESPRESSO NUEVO (on Espresso Nuevo )
dpablo19 | dpablo19 | Tue, 09/27/2011I really didn't know what to expect with this blend. Thankfully, after opening the package, the beans weren't the oily mess I've come to associate with darker roasts. In fact, there weren't even any ashy/smokey notes in the cup. As a triple ristretto and at a somewhat lower brew temp, approximately 198 degrees, these beans shined. I highly recommend this blend provided you have the equipment and experience to bring out all of their potential.
BECOMING A PARADISE FAN (on El Salvador El Optim...)
bdcline | bdcline | Sun, 09/25/2011I'm impressed with Paradise and their roasters. I've been very happy with their coffees, and this is no exception. Balanced cup with nice sweetness and woodsy undercurrent. Would buy again.
VERY NICE COFFEE (on Sumatra La Minita Ac...)
bdcline | bdcline | Sun, 09/25/2011Brewed in pour-over. Originally described as a dark roast, but don't let this scare you--not a trace of oil on the beans. Nice mouth-feel and body, notes of raisin, followed by a sweet finish. Very nice coffee to my taste.
MEDIUM-BODIED, FULL FLAVOR, VERY, V... (on Espresso Nuevo )
Noone | Noone | Mon, 09/19/2011The flavor is bold, but not overpowering - more medium than heavy bodied. Rich flavor, but with slightly sweat, almost nutty nuance to it and brighter fruit flavors than I would expect. The finish is also very clean. Let it rest for 30 minutes and there was no bitterness at all after it cooled down. A good morning coffee, but if you like your coffee more full-bodied, with a little more kick (in a good way), I would look elsewhere. Otherwise can't complain, just oh so smooth!
