Paradise Roasters
Paradise Roasters was founded on the principles of “sourcing fantastic green coffee” and “roasting to order.” These principles have brought much recognition to Paradise, most notably through coffeereview.com and Ken Davids’ 100-point coffee-rating scale. Numerous coffees have been reviewed, all of which have received 90 points or above. Current reviews are linked on relevant product pages for your convenience. You can compare our in-house scores to Coffee Review’s, and then try the coffee yourself to see what you think.
What is ordered today is what we roast tomorrow; this is called roast-to-order. Monday through Friday, a roast schedule of the previous day’s orders is generated. We roast only what was ordered - plus a little extra for quality control - and then package each order for shipment.
Food & Wine magazine listed us in the top-ten boutique coffee roasters of the US, while National Geographic designated Paradise Roasters as one of the ten best coffees in the world in their book Passport to the Best: The 10 Best of Everything.

I'M REALLY ENJOYING THIS (on Espresso Nuevo )
hoonchul | Fri, 05/25/2012I'm really enjoying this coffee with milk and straight espresso. Lots of brightness and smooth finish. Highly recommended!
FAILED TO IMPRESS (on Paradise Blend )
jbviau | Mon, 05/07/2012This coffee was definitely on the dark side for a "medium" with a little oil on the beans. In the cup, mostly chocolate notes. Low-acidity. Quick and not overly pleasant finish. After a few tries over 10 days or so, I gifted most of the bag to an acquaintance.
DRINKABLE BREW (on Sumatra Danau Toba )
froggypond2 | Fri, 04/06/2012I tend to enjoy a medium to dark brew, so this was a bit on the mild side, especially since I use milk rather than cream. Pleasant, almost chocolatey tate.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FINISH (on Espresso Classico )
123scy | Mon, 02/27/2012I drink this only in cappuccinos, so I imagine I miss some of the subtleties in the espresso. What comes through in a milk drink is the sweetness and especially the chocolaty finish. It's a bit strange, because there is nothing in the odor of the brewing espresso to suggest this. An excellent medium body coffee.
IT REALLY DOES HAVE TOBACCO NOTES (on Espresso Havana)
123scy | Mon, 02/27/2012I was sceptical, as I've never encountered a coffee that made good on that particular claim, but this one does. So, the question is: do you like espresso that tastes a bit like tobacco? I find it a bit rough overall for my taste, but it is certainly a strong, rich brew as claimed.
GOOD COFFEE (on Espresso Havana)
Wakeknot | Sun, 02/26/2012this is a nice blend. It is very dark, but if you like dark coffees I expect you will love it. If you are not a dark roast fan you may prefer Classico. Edit to add that it pulls especially well as a ristretto!
NOT MY FAVORITE? BUT REALLY GOOD. (on Espresso Nuevo )
Aaron McCarty | Sat, 02/18/2012Has good flavor and richness, just not my fave. Not sure what else to say!
GREAT DARK ROASTED COFFEE (on Espresso Nuevo )
samuellaw178 | Tue, 01/31/2012This coffee is a little on the dark roast style but not burnt at all. I too wouldn't say it compares similarly to Redbird. Red Bird in my experience is a much sweeter nutty caramel, without any bitterness. While Nuevo is very chocolatey shot with a hint of bitterness finish, with creamy body and decent complexity I would say it's a very decent choice for dark roast coffee if that's your style. In milk drink, it stands out very well and I wouldn't have hesitation ordering it again. But with it, I would prefer milk drink than straight shots.
THIS COFFEE BLEW (on Espresso Nuevo )
XCV | Sun, 01/29/2012mostly burnt tobacco and heavy smoke like a campfire some chocolate notes the guy who compared this to RedBird is without palate. Suffered through 5lbs of this.
NOT YOUR FATHER'S ROBUSTA. (on S.O. Espresso Coffee...)
intrepid510 | Thu, 01/19/2012I had to redo this review, when I originally received this coffee I made three espresso from it and they were very good with strong vanilla flavor, so much so it was like some put a little bit of syrup in it. I really liked it a lot. However, over the course of the next few days this coffee has become extremely wood tasting that is not pleasant at all.
THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT (on Espresso Classico )
intrepid510 | Wed, 01/04/2012This has been a great espresso, bright front with a sweet caramel finish that does really well as an espresso and in smaller espresso based milk drinks, giving it a bit of a buttery texture and finish. My only complaint is that I have not really liked it as drip coffee. I was very impressed with the shipping of Paradise Roasters, both orders around the holidays and made it to me in three days from MN to CA and then the nice gold clip with the bags that make it easy to keep shut.
EXCELLENT (on Espresso Nuevo )
intrepid510 | Thu, 12/29/2011Excellent blend, I think this compares very much to Red Bird Espresso, lots of chocolate with a lot cherry and other dark stone fruit, really love it!
SMOOTH (on Espresso Nuevo )
123scy | Tue, 12/20/2011I'm unable to give it a 5 due to the limitations of my machine, not the coffee. When I get the LaPavoni Pro up and running, this will likely go to a 5. Very nice, smooth espresso, no trace of harshness, excellent crema.
A GREAT ESPRESSO (on Espresso Nuevo )
Wakeknot | Fri, 11/18/2011this is one of my favorite dark roasts. I am usually a lighter roast guy, but Paradise is great.
A NICE ROAST (on S. O. Espresso Brazi...)
Wakeknot | Fri, 11/18/2011this is an easy drinking SO espresso. Very enjoyable.
LIGHT ROAST (on Ethiopia Yirgacheffe...)
pokeypine | Thu, 11/10/2011Received as a very light roast (label description and appearance) contrary to description on the site. Much stronger floral notes than fruity and with a strong black tea flavour component. Very mild . It could probably be enhanced as a medium roast instead of light.
NOT MY CUP (on Ethiopia Sidama Ardi...)
tjbv | Tue, 10/25/2011The other reviewers here were sensing qualities I did not. Each to his own, etc. I am fondest of medium roasts, and this was light roasted for reasons spelled out elsewhere. Regardless, the proof is in the cup, and for me it smelled rather of clean old rags, but tasted better. Yet thin and high-pitched--not at all syrupy or like chocolate. Not for me, but perhaps for you.
ESPRESSO NUEVO (on Espresso Nuevo )
paul.nibber | Tue, 10/25/2011These beans were not the 'dark' roast I had expected. There was no carbony taste to the espresso and yet it kept a lot of citrus and floral type notes. This blend far exceeded my expectations and I look forward to ordering it again.
THIS IS A GREAT BLEND FOR (on Espresso Nuevo )
Karrde | Mon, 10/24/2011This is a great blend for milk based drinks, I am definitely a fan. You can check out my more detailed review here: http://www.roaste.com/CoffeeBlogs/Karrde/What-Im-Drinking-Paradise-Roasters-Expresso-Nuevo
SOLID PERFORMER (on Espresso Classico )
delaroast | Sun, 10/23/2011smooth flavor with a bit of fruit. I find it a bit soft to cut through milk, but it won't let you down.
