after much research on trying to recreate my espresso Sicilian experience I found this machine. As always to a great cup has 3 nessary components: the perfect machine, water temp, & freshly ground espresso bean. This machine does in fact accomplish the first two & the last item is up to your personal taste buds. Can highly recommend this machine!!

GREAT STARTER MACHINE (on Espressione Squissit...)

We've been using the Espressione Squissita Plus for a little over a week now and it has totally transformed the coffee experience in our household. The machine is solidly built and easy to set up -- I had it working out of the box within ten minutes of its arrival. It comes with two filter baskets -- a single and a double -- and a plastic scoop/tamper combo that's sturdy enough to get a good tamp, though I'm always afraid I'll snap the handle in half while tamping. That and the fact that both baskets are pressurized to make "crema" are the two things that keep me from giving this a solid 5 stars as great starter machine. Also, it's almost impossible to get a good tamp with the single basket and the tamper for some reason. We've taken to using the double basket exclusively and drawing double shots.

That said, it's so easy to operate that even my teenage sons can pull a decent shot from it. The light indicator turns green when the water is in the right temperature range and red when it's too cool -- and it changes with an audible click so it's impossible to miss. The solid brass portafilter and boiler hold heat beautifully, and the cup warmer is a nice touch you don't usually find on a machine in this price range.

It takes about a minute to switch from brewing to frothing coffee -- and again, the indicator light makes it really easy to tell that it's ready to froth. I've had better results steaming milk when I remove the nozzle attachment and steam directly with the steam wand -- but your mileage may vary.

It's easy to fill and easy to keep clean, though I haven't tried descaling it yet. The only annoyance is that the steam wand drips unless you really tighten it down well. Other than those few things, the Squissita Plus works beautifully as an entry level home espresso machine, and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to fuss with lots of adjustments to get a decent shot of espresso.
