So far, this is my favorite coffee. I love the smoothness of this coffee. A good solid coffee with an excellent flavor. Another plus, it is a fair trade organic coffee.

TRY EM BEFORE YOU BUY EM (on Introduction to Gour...)

Steve Lord | Steve Lord | Thu, 01/19/2012

The sampler was well recieved and the coffees were excellent. A couple of the items were not to our particular taste and by not having to buy a pound, I can cross them off instead of throwing them out (or putting them in the 'only when the good stuff is gone' bin).

DIDN'T FILTER THE COFFEE (on Chazzano 2-Cup Trave...)

    jimzafotbog | jimzafotbog | Tue, 12/13/2011

The plunger filter let a lot of grounds pass into the coffee. I don't recommend this product.

GOOD WAY TO TRY MANY COFFEES,BUT(A ... (on 10x 2oz Sample Bags ...)

    samuellaw178 | samuellaw178 | Tue, 12/06/2011

This is a really good way to try different coffee from different region. This is also the one and only sampler available on ROASTe, unfortunately. I wish we can have more choices from other roasters but it's probably not profitable enough to do so. So kudo's to Chazzano for doing this. However, as much as I appreciate Chazzano's offering, the coffee aren't very distinctive or showcasing their profile as much as I would like. I wasn't sure was it because the coffees were overroasted(some of them are kinda dark, but not burnt), or were they not fresh enough in the first place, that the dry and wet aroma aren't as strong/fragrant as the rest of coffee I have (from Vivace's and Klatch's and Metropolis's). In the cup, while they're distinguishable, the characteristic wasn't really standing out, not much nuances to be tasted. Sure, I could still tell the difference between two or three different coffee in this sample when compared side-by-side. Just that they weren't as good as the offering from other roasters. Yet, I am giving a 4-cup because of this extra effort that they are willing to go to offer this sampler pack. I suspect their normal offering would probably be better, just not the sampler. Because I understand it would be extremely difficult to microroast every batch of 10 different coffees to every order. Bottomline: A really good way to enjoy different coffees, but probably at less-than-perfect quality especially if you're used to very good roasters like Klatch or Metropolis. Maybe I am just spoiled with so many good offerings from ROASTe.

VERY DISAPPOINTED (on 10x 2oz Sample Bags ...)

    bdcline | bdcline | Mon, 12/05/2011

The sampler is a nice idea, but the coffees were underwhelming. I took a chance on this one and got burned, which is what I would also say about these coffees. There's a reason why other reviewers say they can't tell any difference between the samples--because all were overroasted, which runs roughshod over most of the distinctive characteristics of the varietals. Perhaps for a certain market these coffees would suffice, but if you're used to Klatch or Intelligentsia, pass this one up. I'll give them two cups for the speedy shipping.

SO FAR SO GOOD (on 10x 2oz Sample Bags ...)

    tlrich2u | tlrich2u | Fri, 12/02/2011

As a novice, I really appreciate being able to sample different types of coffee. I've haven't sampled all of them yet, but each that I have tried has been really good coffee. Each sample is very fresh. Store bought has nothing on this! Very satisfied and will probably order again just for the variety.

BEST COFFEE EVER! (on Chazzano 4-Cup Frenc...)

    siriuslion | siriuslion | Mon, 11/28/2011

I have used instant, automatic drip, Percolators, tea bag, and stove top coffees up till now. I found and read the reviews for the Chazzano 4-Cup French Press and thought the coffee would be weak or cold....... But I took a leap and bought the Chazzano 4-Cup French Press (more like 2 cup), to my surprise it was the best coffee I've ever had. FYI I like cappuccinos. A little bit of info on what I did, I ran as hot of water as will come out of tap through the pot then,I used 1 heaping Tablespoon of coffee, Boiled the water in microwave oven, then let coffee seep for 4 1/2 minutes, slow depression of plunger about 20 seconds. Coffee burnt my tongue on first cup. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that wants a real good cup of coffee. If you have guests do look into getting much larger version.

FULL BODIED AND RICH (on Nicaragua Jinotega L...)

    M. Thomas | M. Thomas | Mon, 11/28/2011

I ordered Chazzano's Nicaragua Maragogype Superior Las Segovias and was sent Nicaragua Jinotega instead. I have no complaint about that, as the Jinotega (Vienna roast) is excellent. The beans arrived quickly, marked with a roasting date that was just before it was shipped. This coffee has rich, carmel-like character, and enough "oomph" to stand up to milk and sugar and still convey its deep, complex flavor. I tend to like dark roasts, and this Vienna roast was very enjoyable. I found no hints of over-roasting (i.e., there was no burnt bitterness). For me, these beans produce a great cup of morning coffee. I brew each cup using the manual pour-over method (an old-school European-style filter holder and unbleached cone filters).

GOOD VALUE -- FUN WAY TO EXPLORE (on 10x 2oz Sample Bags ...)

    M. Thomas | M. Thomas | Mon, 11/28/2011

I loved this sampler. If you don't know whether you prefer Central American or African beans, this is obviously a good way to discover your preferences. However, if you already know you like both and have a hard time deciding (like me!), this sampler is a nice solution. I enjoyed the surprise inside each new package. I admit to a little disappointment upon reaching the bottom of the Tanzanian Peaberry sample bag, though -- it was my favorite. The Guatamalan Fair Trade was also terrific. I like variety, so I would be inclined to order this sampler again, just to be able to rotate through the varieties. Each sample was very fresh, expertly roasted and full of character. I wish all of the varieties were organic and fair trade, though.

MY FAVORITE COFFEE. (on Honduras Santa Rosa ...)

    sasaltus | sasaltus | Wed, 11/23/2011

I love this coffee! I have breakfast out once or twice a week and am always disappointed in the coffee no matter where I go. I like Honduras Santa Rosa better than the other coffee I've ordered from Roaste, good though most of it is, so I've stopped fighting it, and put in a repeat order for it.

WOW (on Papua New Guinea Fai...)

    wazzzz89 | wazzzz89 | Wed, 11/16/2011

This was my first order from Roaste. This coffee was delicious, it was so smooth and mellow but strong at the same time. I used 8 heaping tablespoons for my 32oz french press and it was perfect. My new morning coffee.
