TRULY DELICIOUS; TRULY UNIQUE (on Ethiopia Harrar Long...)

Being a long time proponent and consumer of Yirgacheffe coffee this was refreshing, distinct, and delicious. Although its reputation proceeds it, I can humbly say I was a Harrar longberry virgin. No longer! This coffee was smooth, robust, and profound. Definitely a dark rost with hints of dark berries and earth. Smooth with a lingering finish that is neither astringent or overly acidic. I will definitely be buying this product again. Happy drinking.

GOOD YIRGACHEFFE BUT... (on Ethiopia Yirgacheffe...)

    jaredament | jaredament | Thu, 10/20/2011

I love Yirgacheffe coffee but not all are roasted equally and although I truly enjoyed this cup of coffee, I did find it to be a somewhat non-traditional roast compared to some of the others I've tried from RoastE.com. This Yirgacheffe was super dark and lacked some of the blueberry, tea, and citrus notes I have grown to love. A very good value, however, so you cannot go wrong. Was still smooth and floral and an enjoyable experience, which is what coffee is supposed to be about!

A FINE DARKNESS... (on Ethiopia Harrar Long...)

    dubbie98 | dubbie98 | Thu, 08/04/2011

Produced the darkest coffee I've ever known, it was like having a cup of warm smoke in the morning. This stuff reminded me what real coffee tastes like, but was a bit too powerful for daily breakfast. I should've tried to mix it down for everyday, perhaps half sidamo, would've been the blend. If you like nuclear coffee or have the space to hold a few personal mixdowns then I can tell you to try it, and reacquaint yourself with real coffee.

A "Two" rating on the roast and finish of this great coffee but a Four on the quality. The beans were under-roasted and as such, left a bitter aftertaste upon taste-testing and brewing. I sent in an email regarding this but never received a reply. I have not brewed a second pot.

This coffee packs taste and at first seems to be too acidic, but it mellows out and the flavor lasts. Can't beat the fair trade and organic label either :)

I have bought this brand of coffee for years and it is the best coffee so good that you can drink it right out of the pot. I'm glad I found a place and can order it on a regular basis so I don't have to drink second rate coffee. Thank you so much Roast E Elizabeth Cheatham

DIDN'T DO IT FOR ME (on Costa Rica Naranjo W...)

    ltlnordy | ltlnordy | Tue, 03/08/2011

I really enjoy Costa Rican coffee, but this one just did not seem to do it for me. For a medium roast, it seems a bit overdone. Coffee has nice body, but flavors came across a little bland. I was expecting a bit more citrus and a little more complexity. That being said, I would retry a different batch.

HARRAR LONGBERRY (on Ethiopia Harrar Long...)

    ltlnordy | ltlnordy | Tue, 03/08/2011

Beans were very oily. Aromas were dark and smoky, a little different than what I was expecting. A little dry and earthy on the palate with some very nice chocolate notes that bring the coffee to a really nice finishing point.

ETHIOPIAN SIDAMO COFFEE (on Ethiopia Sidamo Fair...)

    rbgc90a | Thu, 02/17/2011

This coffee arrived after a bad start - the first shipment arrived with an empty package and a note from the post office. Roast e called me and apologized and immediately sent another package out to me. It arrived and the amazing smell hits you even before it is prepared. I have been drinking instant coffee but now tried this in a French Press style of brewing and it is extremely delicious. Thanks again. I also know I am helping the poor farmers in Ethiopia who need a fair price for their hard work.

SUB PAR (on Brazil Samambia Esta...)

    xprzzo | xprzzo | Thu, 02/03/2011

While gen-x is cheaper than most the roasters on here, I still consider it premium coffee and with that one would expect a roast date and packaging with a de-gassing valve. While darker than what I would expect from a 'medium' roast, it can still pass as such (full city), but tons of chaff, which does not help the result in the cup, or leaves you with doing the roaster's work. I got the advertised acidity, alright, but none of the pleasant 'side effects' of rainier cherry, plumb and melon. Overall it was all fairly flat - my guess is it was on the old side, but without a roasting date it will remain just a guess.

    DISAPPOINTING (on Ethiopia Harrar Long...)

    xprzzo | xprzzo | Thu, 02/03/2011

While gen-x is cheaper than most the roasters on here, I still consider it premium coffee and with that one would expect a roast date and packaging with a de-gassing valve. While not sure, I think what I received was past its prime already. I do not who determines the roast levels on here - the roaster or the folks at roaste, but this is NOT a medium roast - dark, oily, well past a full city (read: burnt) and so is the end result. While it still may work as a pour over, what comes out of an espresso machine is no longer what you would want from a Harrar. All the smooth chocolate notes, while still there were overpowered by a rather unpleasant smoky bergamott - not that that is completely out of line, it is just NOT what you would use a Harrar for.

FINE SMOOTH HARRAR (on Ethiopia Harrar Long...)

    truthpro | truthpro | Wed, 12/29/2010

Though some may find this coffee a bit weak, I find it very smooth and subtle, with that elusive Blueberry ping at the top, and a warm chocolate note at the base. Yes, it could be stronger or darker perhaps, but not if that would make it bitter. The test for me is combining raw organic cacao beans (ground for the cup) and some red macca with a tad of cayenne and vanilla. This coffee carries the cacao as well or better than any other I use.

    andytblood | andytblood | Wed, 10/27/2010

The bags they were packaged in weren't sealed with a degassing valve. The first impression was horrible. It looked like someone who didn't care packed the beans. It is hard to go on from there.
