NOT BAD (on Hamilton Beach 40870...)
jbviau | Mon, 05/21/2012I hear there's no plastic on the inside, which is nice. Some latch problems have been reported though.
NICE ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL ADC (on Hamilton Beach 48465...)
Chamie | Thu, 05/10/2012I picked this up to replace an 8-year-old grind-and-brew that had lost its oomph and was making so-so coffee (after the roommate broke the grinder and the latch that holds the shower-head lid closed, to be fair). It arrived in just over a week, well-packed in an outer box with plastic pillow packaging. The machine is quick and easy to set up, and pretty intuitive to use. Instead of brewing the coffee into a carafe, the BrewStation drips into an internal insulated coffee bucket that sits over a small warmer. When you want a cup of coffee, you press your cup up against the bar on the front of the machine and it fills your cup. The bucket fits easily into the body of the machine and the filter basket sits comfortably on top of the bucket. You can brew a pot any time you want, or set it up to start brewing automatically at a specific time -- ideal if you want your coffee ready to pour when you get up in the morning or home in the afternoon. You can set the warmer plate to stay on for 1-4 hours, and because the coffee bucket is insulated, it doesn't seem to burn the coffee the way that typical warmer plates do. The only thing I don't particularly like about it is that the coffee bucket is somewhat awkward to pour from -- it lifts out so you can fill it with water at the sink and empty any extra coffee from it. I have yet to fill the tank without spilling water down the front of the machine. The solution to that might be to use a regular pitcher for filling the tank. If you like ADC coffee, this is a pretty good option for brewing.
PERSONAL SIZE (on Hamilton Beach 49970...)
EricBNC | Wed, 04/18/2012Nice introductory level pod coffee brewer here - with this unit you can make the same quality coffee at home using single serve pods that you can find in your local cafe - some report less than adequate brew temps or pressure but the one I have will extract a nice cup.
SINGLE SERVE (on Hamilton Beach 49990...)
EricBNC | Wed, 04/18/2012I like the included travel mug - Starbucks used to sell a similar model but i have not seen it sore sale in a while. The price is right on this model and it does not waste coffee making a full pot when all you want is a mug for the commute.
OK, BUT... (on City Steam Variety P...)
jbviau | Wed, 04/18/2012...would you consider offering a variety pack with just 3 pods per variety instead of a full box each? I know these exist. It's much less of a leap of faith for the average home user.
GREAT MACHINE.. IN STAINLESS STEEL (on Saeco Syntia Stainle...)
smerysmd | Sun, 03/11/2012When I moved my older superautomatic machine to my office at work, I bought this machine for my home kitchen. The stainless steel housing matches my stainless steel kitchen perfectly, and the crema is perfect ! Super easy, makes a great cup of espresso and froths milk really easy. Produces enough bars of pressure to make the perfect cup. I really am happy with my decision to upgrade to this machine. I use it with the vivace dolce coffee beans.
GREAT STARTER SUPERAUTOMATIC ! (on Saeco Odea Go II Aut...)
smerysmd | Sun, 03/11/2012This was my first superautomatic machine. I loved it so much that I decided that I needed to have one in both my home kitchen and my office at work. So I moved this machine to my office at work, and bought an even better one for my home kitchen. This machine makes a nice crema and is fast and easy to use. And fast and easy is exactly what I need in the morning so I can get my espresso "fix." Highly recommended.
WONDERFUL MACHINE. (on BUNN BX-B Velocity B...)
tomkelley | Sat, 03/10/2012I use this day to day and it's great for parties. I like the quality brew and that it keeps the water warm. I hope it lasts forever.
THE BEST I HAVE USED (on BUNN HG Phase Brew 8...)
sara7542 | Sat, 03/10/2012Before this machine found it's way into my home, I had to decide how many cups I wanted every time and ask myself if I feel lucky about not getting heartburn later. This maker helped to reduce my issue and produces a very fine cup. It is well worth a little more time for the water to heat when you get this result.
EVERYDAY PERFECTION (on Bunn NHBX Coffee Mak...)
tjbv | Fri, 03/09/2012This Bunn is my daily coffemaker. Probably like you, I drink a lot of coffee, all kinds and types, and--like that Bunny-- mine just keeps on going. I've had it 4 years; it replaced an earlier version whose carafe finally got dropped and broken. Could have just bought a new carafe, but I wanted an update, so I bought this and gave the old one to my sister-in-law. She bought its new carafe, and that Bunn still keeps working, and so does mine. Can't recommend Bunn or this item enough.
MAKES FOR A HAPPY (BEGINNER) CAMPER (on Saeco Aroma Stainles...)
theatrenut | Fri, 03/09/2012This is my first machine (other than a steam m/c years ago). Easy to use, makes good espresso for Americanos. I rarely use the steam wand, but have been able to get pretty good 2% milk foam. Very easy to keep clean and the water reservoir is convenient. This is probably the only level I'll be able to afford and, if it keeps working as well as it has thus far, I will be happy.
A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY (on Saeco Odea Giro Plus...)
bethrichardso | Fri, 03/09/2012I bought my Sacco giro at bed bath and beyond with a 20% off coupon, which made it sting a bit less. Regardless, we use this machine sometimes 4 or 5 times a day. It grinds and brews creamy, rich espresso( single or double) with a perfect crema. It also will make short and tall coffees and the steamer is fool proof. lattes are wonderful. I would give it 5 cups but every once in a while it simply flashes it's red light when everything is fine...full with beans and water and emptied grounds. It seems to get over itself quickly. other than that, it's easy to run, easy to cleans and second only to giving an in house barista.
CONVENIENT (on Senseo Original Sing...)
steveck | Fri, 03/09/2012While pod coffee is not my perfered brew style, it has its place. With the senseo you can have a single cup quick, with no hassel, and it is quite tasty. I perfer the creamy head this gives over the k cup machines. However, this baby can't replace my esspresso machine, and it can't handle large volumes (drip wins here). Reasonably priced, and resonable durability. Unfortuantly the heater elment in mine stopped working after about 3 years, but my friends had theirs for about 5 with out any issues. At this price point I wasn't too upset about the failure; and i was able to repurpose the pump for other hobbies.
GOOD HOME MACHINE (on Saeco Via Venezia Es...)
intrepid510 | Sat, 01/21/2012These are great machines for the money and can produce wonderful espresso at home. They were for many years sold at Starbucks under the barista label. Like another reviewer noted they come with a pressurized portafilter so you do not need a great grinder at first to use it, however to get the best out of the machine you will at some point want to get something like a Baratza Preciso to coax all you can from this little machine!
A SOLID MACHINE! (on Saeco Via Venezia Es...)
Son Ton | Sat, 01/21/2012This is a very solid espresso machine capable of delivering great results! Make sure to have a quality burr grinder and buy the non-pressurized portafilter for better espresso result.
NOT A BAD BREAKFAST BLEND, (on Douwe Egberts-Senseo...)
GmanJenks | Thu, 01/19/2012Not a bad breakfast blend, it is hard to keep them fresh as they aren't individually wrapped. There are other from City Steam, Baronet or Reunion Island that represent better value in my mind.
GOOD IDEA (on City Steam Variety P...)
jbviau | Wed, 01/18/2012I'm all about variety. Added an extra cup for this aspect. City Steam's House Blend is the nicest of the ones included that I've tried so far.
NICE PACKAGE (on City Steam Variety P...)
GmanJenks | Wed, 01/18/2012I always prefer being able to try a variety pack of coffees from a new roaster. I appreciate that they offer selection of regular coffees (no flavored in pack).
A LITTLE DARK FOR BREAKFAST (on City Steam Breakfast...)
GmanJenks | Wed, 01/18/2012I find this a little darker than other breakfast blends and wasn't my favorite way to wake up. Was better later in the day but still not my fave.
EVERYDAY WORK CUP (on Reunion Island Authe...)
GmanJenks | Wed, 01/18/2012We drink this at the office everyday and the most agree it's one of the better blends we have tried.
