Caffe Roma

For three generations the Azzollini family of Turin and Rome, Italy, has skillfully blended and roasted premium coffee beans for the most discriminating palates. It is with the same pride and care that our family brings the distinctive flavors of both the North and the South of Italy.
Founded in 1989 by Azzollini Family, Caffe Roma Coffee Roasting Co. is built on the experience of three generations of the Azzollini family. Father Sergio came to San Francisco from Italy over 50 years ago to open the first coffeehouse on Columbus Ave. in 1977.
Driven by their passion for excellent coffee, Sergio and his son Anthony started roasting their own beans. These days, café responsibilities are in the hands of Sergio’s children, Anthony, Irene, Lisa and Sergio’s son-in-law Frankie.
Our traditional Northern and Southern Italian style coffees are roasted in North Beach and in our South of Market (SOMA-ROMA) store. We only roast with 100% Arabica beans and our roasting techniques date back to old Italy. Each blend is roasted slowly to bring out the sweet character of the bean. Our roasters are Italian and German made and we do not quench (water-down) our coffees. The roasted beans are air cooled to preserve their special qualities and characters.
Caffe Roma's reputation for the highest quality coffee blends and the warm atmosphere of its three coffee bars have made it the choice of restaurants and individuals alike. You can find Caffe Roma coffees at many prestigious San Francisco restaurants, or of course you're always welcome to come in for a cup at one of our three retail locations: 526 Columbus Avenue @ Union (North Beach) and 885 Bryant Street @ 7th (SOMA), both in San Francisco or our third location on the border of Millbrae and Burlingame @143 S. El Camino Real.
