Bill Lush | Bill Lush | Mon, 08/30/2010From time to time, I enjoy the taste of chicory-blend coffee, and Chickadee was a good mix. It served up a tasty brew, EXCEPT... There was a slight taste of hazelnut, probably because the beans were ground in a machine that had not been properly cleaned after grinding flavored coffee. For some folks, this might not have been too disturbing, but for me it was not acceptable. I personally do not enjoy any flavored coffee, but hazelnut is especially offensive. Unfortunately, the artificial flavor that is generally used is particularly persistent and therefore difficult to clean up from a grinder. I'm going to assume this was a one-time problem, and I'm going to give Chickadee another chance.

Macaffeine | Tue, 06/01/2010I just had this coffee at a conference in Miami. I didn't see them brew it - got it out of a vacuum pot, but it tasted fresh, hot and full bodied. It's described here as medium roast but I thought it was more like a full roast. Lots of Latin spicy flavors. They were giving away samples but I was too late to get any :( I ordered 2 bags and sure enough the beans are dark, just this side of oily, so this is definately a darker roast. I made the first pot in a french press and the second in Bunn autodrip (home model). Both were perfect even though I think I used too much water in the Bunn. It's very aromatic and smooth black (no burn taste) but the coffee stood up well to a little half and half, too. I'd love to know what's in this blend! Recommended. I'll be buying more and will check out there other coffee.

suziq | Thu, 05/06/2010A friend is a chef from down south and recommended this as an after dinner drink. Chickadee is the only organic chicory coffee I could find - kudos to the roaster! It is really a very fine coffee with a good taste and flavor, there is no overpowering chicory - I'm sure there is less chicory than you get from you know who. I love the smell! Slightly nutty aroma. Great with salads or dsert like pecan pie!!
AWESOME ESPRESSO FOR HOME (on Cafe Pergolesi Signa...)
suziq | Thu, 05/06/2010This is a very satisfying espresso for home espresso machines and stove-top makers. The grind is not as fine as commercial espresso machines, so I gave a one bean ding in case you have commercial grade equipment at home...Excellent crema. Very smooth finish for a dark roast. Makes a great Americano, too! (I just found out that they do a whole bean too)
MILD AND FLAVORFUL (on Cisco Organic Mexica...)

I brewed this in a 6 cup french press...medium grind and maybe let it steep a little longer than usual;) This smell wonderful and is very mellow - no bitterness or bite. Lot's of flavor without overpowering. Drink it black!
GREAT ALL DAY COFFEE (on HiFi Roasted Fair Tr...)
Getty | Getty | Wed, 03/10/2010The HiFi blend was the first coffee from this roaster that I tried and it it's still my favorite daily grind. This is a very smooth cup, medium body from a lighter roast. Like all there coffees there is no bitter aftertaste. I grind the beans to a medium to medium/fine on a Pavoni LaMocha and am using 2 oz to make 10 cups.

I've never had a smoother coffee with chicory, smells great and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. This has always been a big New Orleans favorite and I'm glad to see it now made with organic coffee.
