samuellaw178 | Sat, 04/14/2012I finally had the chance to try Kona coffee and this is the first one that I go to since it has the best review out there. The coffee comes in a very nice packaging, but I don't seem to find any roast date on it. It would add more value to the coffee experience just for the peace of mind of consumer in my opinion. THe taste itself is very excellent. There're some subtle brightness with very balanced taste. When pulled as espresso, the taste is quite chocolatey, with just the right amount of fruitiness. The nuances are very enjoyable and definitely very complex. The price is on the high side. But considering it's the best of the best, peaberry of Kona, it's probably not too bad. It would be a nice treat once a long while for some good friends probably, but i cant imagine spending that much for everyday coffee.

tjbv | Thu, 03/29/2012This is wonderful coffee--very rich, even luxurious, thick and chocolatey, but with a surprisingly clean finish. It's the second-best Kona I've ever tasted. The first and almighty best? Its Royal Kona peaberry cousin, which I wrote a review for not long ago. This non-peaberry bean, roasted in a way that it appears to drip liqueuer of cafe, is complex, exotic, and genuinely true. It's price is dear, and the rich can have this daily, but for my middle class self I will limit its use to special occasions, and dream as I smell its complex aromas that I too am rich and can drink it every day.

tjbv | Wed, 03/14/2012These tiny beans--so miniscule they make Tanzanian peaberries appear gargantuan--are roasted in such a manner that their coffee has the texture of silk, its crema frothy and thick, an aroma so fragrant it enters rooms beyond the kitchen, and a taste, for lack of a better word, sublime. Dominant milk chocolate with caramel notes that finishes clean, a real surprise. (No coffee breath!) One of the three or four finest cups I've ever had. It's price is dear, especially for only 7 ounces, but well worth at least an occasional expense for a rare special moment. Another plus: the order arrived so quickly, especially for someone on the east coast like me, that I have to conclude that Royal Kona has its act together in EVERY way. Very highly recommended!

I just cannot see paying that kind of money in the future as there are other coffee's that are just as good in a different way. It was a treat however, and I will buy again. Rarely though.
