La Pavoni
La Pavoni Spa was founded by Desiderio Pavoni in Milan in 1905 in a little workshop at Via Parini. His first invention was patented by Luigi Bezzera, on 1st September 1902 and duly registered at the Milan State office on 19th September 1903. And so Pavoni gave life to the first espresso coffee machine for bars - called "Ideale".
Since the mid-eighties, the company has been studying new ideas and creating panels in thermoplastic materials, speeding up the production cycle considerably. La Pavoni has also paid great attention to ergonomics and to researching new technological developments.

LIKE A ROCK (on La Pavoni Jolly Coff...)
123scy | Sun, 03/11/2012This grinder replaced a doserless Rocky. Frankly, I like the Rocky better. I will say that this thing is built like a tank and will doubtless outlive me. The grind produced is good, no problem there, and that's the important part, right? But it is clumsy, slower than the Rocky (much slower), difficult to get all the coffee out of the machine once it has been ground; I usually take the thing and bang it (gently) on the counter to get all the coffee out. It does match the LaPavoni Professional nicely in appearance, though. I have the chrome version and it is striking.
ELBOW GREASE (on La Pavoni Profession...)
123scy | Sun, 03/11/2012I've had the Pro for about 4 months now. It replaced a semiauto that shall remain nameless; it was capable of the occasional pretty-good espresso, but it was a crapshoot. The Pro is worlds apart. It takes a bit of time to learn and get it right, and if you really want it perfect, attention to every detail of grind, tamp and pull, every time. But even on a bad day, you can pull a really delightful shot. Total time to prepare, from grind to finished cappuccino, is about 25 minutes. Tamp I don't measure, but is around 15 pounds, guesstimate. Medium fine grind. I wait for the drip per the manual, although many will tell you that 10 seconds is the most you should wait before pulling. I lean heavily on the lever, especially for the first pull. It gets easier after that first one. Beware the shiny parts of the machine! You can get nasty burn. But well worth running that danger. I expect it to outlive me.
A SOLID GRINDER INDEED! (on La Pavoni "Zip" Grin...)
Son Ton | Fri, 03/09/2012This is a very solid grinder from a respectable manufacturer. To be true, La Pavoni do not make this grinder but they only rebrand it. The true manufracturer is Breggrant. Regardless, it s a full capacity commercial grinder. At home, it will simply last foreever. Just make sure to clean the burrs and the grinding chamber once in a while.
LA PAVNOI (on La Pavoni Profession...)
penrod_25 | Fri, 03/09/2012I have used a pavoni 16-cup to make espresso at work now for 2 years. The machine is small, quiet, and capable of making great espresso. It is a great choice for me at the office. Focusing on thermal control of the machine is necessary to make consistent shots. I have a temperature stip on the group head to help with this, and have also found that controlling where in the heating cycle the machine is also helps with consistency ( this is not too difficult because the machine cycles regularly, and opening the steam valve for a few seconds is normally enough to turn the element on). The drip tray is a little small so I use a bowl to catch waste water and drips. Advantages: Fast heat up small footprint quiet striking design Disadvantages Thermal control (can only make 1-2 espressos at a time) Large p-stat deadband (seems to impact consistency) small drip tray
LA PAVONA (on La Pavoni La Moka Co...)
Deep Cello Coffee Roasters | Tue, 01/17/2012I keep searching for good inexpensive gear. I tried this one and it does a decent enough job of preparing the coffee. A few comments. If you can afford a more expensive unit, then that would be a better choice. The coffee appears chrushed instead of ground. The 1-10 grind setting does not appear to do much to change the grind of the coffee. The ground coffee receptacle is hard to remove from the unit to obtain your coffee. On the plus side, its quiet, it has a large bin, its attractive, and much better than the previous Braun grinder from yesteryear. If $70 bucks is what you have to spend, then its a good grinder. It's not anywhere near as good as the Rancilio, but if you are on a budget, its ok and works fine!
JOLLY? (on La Pavoni Jolly Coff...)
samuellaw178 | Fri, 12/30/2011The name might seems similar to the Mazzer Super Jolly because of the Jolly. But both of them are in two totally different leagues. I would recommend Baratza Vario over this at this price range. This grinder is good looking though, and isn't so bad per se for espresso grinder.
SHINY (on La Pavoni LUSSO Chro...)
EricBNC | Wed, 12/28/2011The La Pavoni Lusso Chrome Espresso Machine is a solid home espresso machine which will let you can make quality espresso at home like you find in coffee shops if you have great beans, a decent grinder and decent technique. Not the most powerful steamer though.
COMPACT (on La Pavoni Buondi Es...)
EricBNC | Wed, 12/28/2011The La Pavoni Buondi is a decent home espresso machine - if you have great beans and a decent grinder you can make the same quality espresso at home as you can find in the best coffee shops with this unit all for a price that will not break the bank.
EXCELLENT QUALITY (on La Pavoni Pub 1Em 1-...)
EricBNC | Tue, 12/27/2011The La Pavoni Pub is an excellent top of the line espresso machine - with this unit you can make the same quality espresso at home as you can find in the best coffee shops since some of them use this machine or one of it's multi-group variations - commercial grade machine here.
GOOD QUALITY (on La Pavoni Pub 1Em 1-...)
samuellaw178 | Tue, 12/27/2011This is a very good espresso machine, will most likely be okay for light catering or commercial use. However, the price is probably a little higher because it's La Pavoni. Other than the slightly high price, it's actually a pretty decent espresso machine.
SPICE GRINDER (on La Pavoni Mill Black...)
samuellaw178 | Tue, 12/27/2011Anything that is labeled for spice grinding, you will be assured that it's very likely that it won't work well for coffee grinding. This grinder is almost okay for coffee brewing(definitely not espresso), almost. It's only slightly better than stale coffee. But if you want to get the best and treasure your precious coffee, do the coffee a favor and get a burr grinder for slightly more.
BIGGER BOILER (on La Pavoni Profession...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011The bigger boiler is worth it if you have the extra money. It allows you to have greater steam power and refill less than the 8-cup version. But also note that it takes a little longer to warm up because of the bigger boiler. The pressure gauge is useful for monitoring boiler pressure.
CAFE GRINDER (on La Pavoni "Zip" Grin...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011This is sometimes used in cafe as a cafe grinder. It works well also at home and can last you a lifetime(close!). Gives good espresso grind too.
ORGANIZED (on La Pavoni Display Ba...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011It helps to make your espresso setup more tidy and there is a drawer for you to keep your accessories. A little pricey but might worth it for you.
LIKE LA PAVONI EURO (on La Pavoni Stradavari...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011This is very similar to la Pavoni Europicola, only with a better design and looks slightly better. Performance wise, it's the same as the 8 cup La Pavoni. Good for making 2-3 shots before overheating. Will give heavenly coffee if you use the right grind with right coffee and temperature!
GOOD BUT THERE IS BETTER (on La Pavoni La Moka Co...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011This is an ok grinder for brewed coffee, definitely not for espresso. but for brewed coffee, I would go a little higher and get Maestro or Capresso infinity that performs better in getting the best from beans.
GREAT ESPRESSO (on La Pavoni Europiccol...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011This can make very excellent espresso if you use it right! Also, it can steam milk and make nice microfoamed cappuccino or latte. However, keep in mind they can only make 2-3 shots before getting to hot to brew anything. Still, it's a good choice for home use!
LOOKS GOOD TASTE GOOD (on La Pavoni Stradavari...)
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011This is actually just La Pavoni Stradavari with wood handles to add to the bling factor. If the look is very desirable for you, by all mean go for this! They can make 1-2 excellent shots per session. After that, they could get too hot to brew. Great eye candy on countertop
NICE BUT.. (on La Pavoni Jolly Coff...)
samuellaw178 | Sat, 12/24/2011This looks pretty good but I would prefer to have other grinder in that price range. It uses a 50mm grinder burr and its performance is probably very similar to Rancilio Rocky. It's a decent grinder per se, but for the price, I would recommend Vario over this if you're considering buying this new.
NICE LOOKING ITEM (on La Pavoni Jolly Coff...)
EricBNC | Sat, 12/24/2011this is one of the nicer looking designs that I have seen for espresso grinding - la Pavoni has a style to their entire line I enjoy.
