KRUPS KP1006 DOLCE GUSTO PICCOLO RE... (on Nescafe Dolce Gusto ...)
CMR | Fri, 07/01/2011Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo is a small and powerful coffee machine that makes coffee shop quality drinks in seconds. Its 15 bar pressure is the essential feature that allows it to make deliciously good coffee; the high the pressure the stronger tasting the drink is. The Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo uses Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee capsules that come in a variety of flavours. The use of pods does ensure you a quick cup of coffee, though not as environmentally friendly as their packaging is not recyclable. The easily removable filter can hold only 0.7 litres of water, which isn’t a great deal, but this is a Piccolo machine, designed for use by one or two people, not an entire work force. The Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo comes with an adjustable drip tray that can accommodate a variety of mugs, cups and glasses. The manual control of cup filling quantity is a nice feature too, meaning that you do get a little more control over the coffee making process than with other automatic machines. The Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo may not be very green in terms of pod package recycling but it does come with an energy efficient auto shut down – after five minutes of no use, it will deactivate. The power button is a bicolour LED that glows green when it’s on and red when it’s off or deactivated, helping you to know when it’s time to shut down. Some common complaints with the Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo include the fact that it does not retain heat in the cup very well. The cost of the pod refills has also been an issue with a lot of consumers. For more coffee machine reviews, check out http://www.coffeemachinesreviews.co.uk!
IT IS CAPABLE OF MAKING GREAT COFFE... (on Krups FME4-14 Progra...)
EricBNC | Thu, 06/30/2011This model is capable of producing excellent drip coffee - this is the reason we buy these brewers so up front know it will work well. This model is not as durable feeling as it appears to be in the photo - more plastic than anything else, but most new things are these days so no ding - just a fair disclosure. The coffee gets hot enough though - I have brewers that get a bit hotter - but the taste from this machine is really to my liking and the with the glass carafe I transfer over to a decanter so no burnt coffee issues for me. I am a fan of Krups equipment because what I have from them works well - many pieces are over twenty years old too. Edit
NOISY, LIMITED LIFE (on Krups Burr Coffee Gr...)
heatherkite | Wed, 06/29/2011I have had 2 of these burr grinders now and both of them stopped working properly after about 3 months. I had to hold the button down to get them to grind the beans, instead of being able to select the amount of cups I wanted. The "17 grinding levels" turn out almost the exact same coarseness no matter what setting you put it on. It's incredibly noisy, so I would have to grind my beans at night so I wouldn't wake my children up in the morning. I am much happier with my Cuisinart Burr grinder- minus the static electricity. The Krups model definitely did a better job with that.
GRINDER FOR THE WIN (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
Lisa | Wed, 06/29/2011I have two grinders. This one I use for coffee and an older one that I use for spices for cooking. It is remarkable! Both have outlasted the "new and improved" models (I can tell you horror stories of the motor on a "new" one actually burning out and a blade breaking). There is nothing like a pot of freshly ground, freshly brewed coffee in the morning (or afternoon or evening) and this will help you get there! Steady and reliable!
I'VE HAD THIS GRINDER FOR (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
d4obrien | Wed, 06/29/2011I've had this grinder for more years than I can remember, probably at least 10 years, It doesn't get daily use any more since I bought a grind and brew machine. But it is a great backup. Well worth the $20.
COFFEE AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING NIC... (on Krups GX4100 Coffee ...)
jbviau | Tue, 06/28/2011Steel grinding chamber? Check. Whirly blade? Check. Good for coffee *and* spices? WRONG. Don't go there. For this price you could get two all-plastic Krups blade grinders sans steel accents and have a dedicated grinder for each (thereby avoiding flavor transfer).
KRUPS 203 (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
fatbrotha | Tue, 06/28/2011This is an excellent, reliable grinder. It's built very robust grinds up beans very fast and requires very little to no maintenance. I've had this grinder for a while now and I can't say that I have any complaints. I use with my Yama Vac pot and together, this grinder and aforementioned vac pot makes some of the best coffee I've tasted. Sorry starbucks but it's going to be a while before you see me again :)
GRINDER (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
sleepyxsusu | Tue, 06/28/2011I like this grinder. The only problem is with the grinds sticking. I've found that pulsing and grinding really does work the best with this. You don't want too much heat on your coffee beans. but this works great and it's easy to store!
FINE BUT OVERPRICED (on Krups BW3990 Intuiti...)
jbviau | Tue, 06/28/2011For $30 you could get essentially the same thing (minus the cool blue lights) at Target. Check out the Aroma kettle there. I've had a good experience with mine.
TRY THE "PULSE AND SHAKE" METHOD (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
jbviau | Tue, 05/17/2011If this is the best you can do, you might consider pulsing and shaking to keep heat down and avoid fines.
BEST BLADE GRINDER I EVER USED (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
EricBNC | Thu, 04/28/2011This blade grinder has been around forever - ours is over 20 years old now and looks exactly the same - don't mess with success! Sure, a burr grinder is more precise, but what comes out of this grinder will make a much better cup than stale pre ground coffee - and the price is right!
I BOUGHT THIS WHEN I MOVED (on Krups XP1020 Manual ...)
stephaniesnipes | Wed, 04/27/2011I bought this when I moved into my first college apartment. It's small, takes up little room in your kitchen, and it's very lightweight. It does the job decently, but it's definitely not top of the line in my opinion as it feels plasticy and cheap. I would recommend it to the casual barista (the low price also helps a lot as well!), but if you're looking for something more sturdy and that will last you longer, you might want to think about saving that $60 and putting it toward a bigger investment later on. But for me, a poor college kid, this Krups machine does the trick just fine.
GREAT CARAFE AND A DECENT BREWER (on Krups FMF5-14 Progra...)
EricBNC | Tue, 04/26/2011I am a fan of Krups equipment because what I have from them works well - many pieces are over twenty years old too. This model is not as durable feeling as it appears to be in the photo - more plastic than anything else, but most new things are these days so no ding - just a fair disclosure. The coffee gets hot enough though - I have brewers that get a bit hotter - but the taste from this machine is really to my liking and the carafe is very nice. This unit would be a huge upgrade for many kitchens when compared to most $50 and under auto drip coffee makers on the market. In this case you get what you pay for.
KRUPS FME2-14 PROGRAMMABLE 12-CUP C... (on Krups FME2-14 Progra...)
Lisa | Tue, 04/26/2011We were given this coffee maker as a gift after our old one died. My dad loves it. He is very much a creature of habit. He precisely measures out the amount of coffee and bottled water every night before going to bed (his night ritual). Then he wakes up in the morning to the lovely smell of coffee brewed and waiting for him (part of his morning ritual). Usually the amount of coffee he made is "mysteriously" not as much as he thought (I plead innocent even though there is a mug in front of me!). This coffee maker works perfect and has outlasted some of the "bigger" named ones and the more expensive ones.
RELIABILITY IS A PROBLEM (on Krups KM7000 Grind-a...)
jackkar4 | Tue, 04/26/2011This makes very good coffee, and is easy to use and clean up. But Reliability is poor. The grinder died after a year and a month. Krups was good enough to extend the 1 year warranty, but it still cost $35 to ship it for repair. About a year later, the water heating system died. This is apparently a very common problem for this model. Now it will cost me about $75 to have them repair it. CHINESE JUNK!
GREAT EVERYDAY (on Krups KM4065 Precisi...)
gmarinos | Tue, 04/26/2011This is a great, low cost, everyday coffee maker. Not fancy but reliable and brews great tasting coffee. I always use filtered water and with one scoop of freshly ground Fitger's New York Roast per cup, it comes out great every time.
KRUPS KM7000 GRIND-AND-BREW 10-CUP ... (on Krups KM7000 Grind-a...)
timleblanc | Mon, 03/07/2011Shipping took forever. Once it finally arrived, the quality of the product was far less than expected. However, it makes a delicous cup of Joe> It no longer makes good coffee since most of the spring loaded parts have fallen apart. This $179 coffee maker lasted less than 2 months. I need to see how I go about getting it replaced or getting my money back. i will keep you posted.
FOR A BLADE GRINDER... (on Krups 203 Fast Touch...)
broseph | Tue, 11/30/2010For a blade grinder I thought this was pretty solid. I liked the oval shape and didn't find it that messy. Once I sprung for a burr grinder, I found this more than adequate for bustin' up spices.
KRUPS KM4055 PRECISION 12-CUP COFFE... (on Krups KM4055 Precisi...)
leelib | Tue, 05/25/2010The product is very attractive looking and makes good coffee. However the water level indicator is very difficult to read. You have to be very tall in order to look down on the gauge from above. It is very small and hard to read. (2)The opening to fill the water tank is very small making it very difficult to fill without spilling.(3) The lid on the glass carafe is not removable making it diffcult to wash the carafe
STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE... (on Krups XP5240 Pump Es...)
mevans | Mon, 04/12/2010I purchased the XP5240 in Nov. '09. I went against my better judgment in doing so as there were no reviews yet as it was a new model and I had had a Krups Espresso Pronto since 1994 that was showing signs of giving up. So, what could go wrong? Well, let me tell you. Six weeks after I recieved the XP5240 the frothing attachment threads stripped out and another part of the machine started to leak. I took it to the local repair just before Christmas and was told in mid January that it had to be replaced. It then took two more weeks to recieve one from Krups. That machine arrived with the frothing attachment glued on at the threads and one of the 3 clips broken off and a brown colored liquid that came out while priming the machine. Krups asked me to ship it directly to them. They said it was shipped to me from another service center and not them directly. After 3 weeks I called to find out what was wrong with the 2nd machine. I was told that it was being tested. I explained to her that this was a replacement machine that was defective and I wanted a new one. She told me that she would have a supervisor call me. Two days later a supervisor named Pierre called and said that they saw no brownish liquid and had replaced the broken piece and were shipping it back to me. I told him that I wanted my money back and he said that this was all he could or would do for me. Two weeks passed and the machine arrived. About a week later the O ring on the frother dissapeared. Once again I called their customer service number. I was told that they would send me another O ring at no charge as this apparently is not a warranteed part and to expect it in 1-2 weeks. Two weeks passed and nothing. On April 8th I called them only to be told the the O ring is on back order. I asked her if they were going to call me and let me know or if I was just to sit and wait for it. She told me should have another supervisor call me that day or on the 9th. It is now April 12th and no call. I've been able to use this machine for maybe a month out of the last 5 months. I'm glad I kept the 16 year old machine as a back-up just in case this happened. As for loyalty to Krups? It's gone! Their customer servive is amazingly horrible! My next espresso machine will not be a Krups I'm sorry to say.
