Sumatra La Minita Aceh Gold is a medium-roasted, bold coffee with a sweet, earthy background. The earthy notes mix with an herbal (almost celery-like) flavor and balance on top of sweeter notes of honey and pineapple. The heavy body coats your mouth and leaves a lasting, pleasant aftertaste.

La Minita is famous for their coffee estate in Costa Rica. Under William McAlpin, La Minita pioneered the concept of single-estate coffees some 20 years ago. Today, they produce some of Central America’s most celebrated coffees.

The Aceh Gold, produced in the Lintong area, is one of several projects that La Minita is involved with outside of their estate. Partnering with Volkopi for the last 10 years, La Minita has received and continues to receive a year-round supply of fresh coffee because of Sumatra’s year-round harvest season. La Minita, one of only two US importers that Volkopi supplies, visits Sumatra at least once a year to maintain relationships and coffee quality.

Aceh Gold is a wet-hull processed, sun-dried, hand-sorted, and triple-picked coffee that we are proud to offer.

"High-toned aroma combining elements of juicy, almost floral fruit with more pungent nuance of grapefruit, raisin and brandy. In the cup, distinctly lively acidity with continued sweetly pungent fruit, particularly a floral-edged white grape. Sweet finishing; hints of flavor reemerge in the long."

  • VERY NICE COFFEE

Brewed in pour-over. Originally described as a dark roast, but don't let this scare you--not a trace of oil on the beans. Nice mouth-feel and body, notes of raisin, followed by a sweet finish. Very nice coffee to my taste.

  • RICH, SWEET, DELICIOUS

This coffee, brewed as drip, has a strong flavor along with the sweet & fruit.. I just checked the description and saw "celery" I couldn't place it, but maybe. That said, the honey and pineapple really come to the fore when I let it cool a bit. I bring drip to work in a thermos - not what any serious coffee person would recommend, but I've actually had my richest sweetest cups this way, something about cooling slowly perhaps? I don't know, but this coffee worked very well. It was very nice fresh too.

One caution - one batch wasn't as good as the rest, I have a mark on my grinder for drip, perhaps I ground a tiny bit finer, or the water was too hot or too cold? Just saying that somehow I messed it up - if you don't get a rich, sweet cup, try adjusting your approach.
