Roastmaster Comments by Aaron Meza: A beautiful, classic cup. The aroma is ripe and suggestive of lime, guava, blackberry, tamarind, and rose. The cup is complete and balanced. Full rounded body with plenty of supporting acidity in body. If you are a fan of classic Central American coffees, this coffee is perfection.

SMOOTH, RICH AND FRUITY COFFEE THAT SOOTHES THE PALATE
Nick Usborne | Sun, 08/23/2009 - 10:54Guatemala Ocana amazed us with its rich, smooth flavor.
We ground the beans, brewed the grinds immediately and let the coffee cool for a few minutes.
Guatemala Ocana is a fabulous find. It’s the finest coffee we have tasted since we reviewed a batch of 100% Blue Mountain Coffee.
It has everything - a rich, deep taste with fruity undertones. There is nothing about this coffee to be uncertain about. Every element blends together in perfect balance.
It has strength, subtlety, variety and more...without any disconnect between the different flavors.
For us, this will never be an everyday coffee. It’s the kind of coffee we’ll drink only when we have occasion to sit down, relax and really taste and appreciate it. A little like taking care to find the right moment to enjoy a really superior bottle of wine.
We love this coffee!
THE WHOLE BEANS DID NOT HAVE MUCH OF A BOUQUET
Bill Lush | Tue, 08/04/2009 - 13:31The whole beans did not have much of a bouquet. I didn’t get much aroma after grinding, either. This was a disappointment, since a strong perfume after grinding is a good start to a morning cup of coffee.
I brewed the coffee in the French press. After brewing, there was a bouquet, but not a particularly strong coffee sensation. Mostly chocolate, to my nose. Didn’t foam up as much as other fresh roasts. Perhaps a little long in the bag?
The taste was actually better than I would have thought based on the weak aroma. Again, mainly chocolate, not acidic (that’s good). Acceptable mouth feel. Slightly “sweet” taste. Surprisingly, the flavor seemed to improve a bit as the coffee sat in the pot. However, it did not hold up to the last drop.
Overall, maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10. I was not disappointed, but probably would not buy this again because there are better brews out there. I am not a roasting expert, but I had the feeling these beans could have benefitted from a little longer in the oven.
BUTTERY & WINEY
Giles | Tue, 08/04/2009 - 05:59I took it as a straight espresso. The cup had low acidity, a light crema, and strong buttery & winey notes. Very good.
