Organic Ethiopia Awassa coffee is a lush coffee with a tropical effervescence. The bouquet dances with vanilla-like floral notes with lemon and lime. The flavors become richer and juicier in the cup, deepening into mango, pineapple, and cream and then fading to milk chocolate and green tea in the finish.

The rains in Ethiopia were particularly heavy this year. Many of the natural-processed coffees that we traditionally purchase weren't up to par this year. This year's "Awassa" micro-lot is actually a blend of the best coffee from several other micro-lots.

"Sweet, fruit-floral aroma, with a distinct blueberry note and a hint of black currant. In the cup, bright fruit-toned acidity, with juicy, medium to full body. Intense sweet blueberry continues in the cup, with light hints of citrus and night flowers. Dry berry tones linger in the finish."

  • NICE EARTHINESS AND FLORAL ACIDITY

    Scott Lush | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 06:14

This tasted like the ideal Ethiopian with the origin character you hear described but rarely get: a really nice earthiness combined with a mild acidity. I tasted a medium acidity of lemon or lime, but it wasn't so strong that I felt like I was biting into a lemon cookie. In other words, it's a nice acidity that complements the taste rather than overpowers. And that's exactly what I was hoping for. The earthiness maybe comes from the dry processing (i.e. the coffee cherry is left to dry with the bean inside). There was a lot of great flavor to these beans considering how lightly roasted they were. They were almost beige in color rather than brown, in what I think is a City Roast. Overall a nice experience of earthiness and mild acidity.

  • A NICE RICH FRUITY FLAVOR

    Allison | Sat, 08/08/2009 - 07:01

This medium roasted coffee has a medium acidity, which let me feel the interesting fruity flavors in this special coffee. This coffee did not produce a nice crema, which did not provide a good looking cup, but the taste was amazing. The coffee was very good when making espresso and cappuccino, although the strong tastes may calmed down a bit once milk was added, made the cappuccino taste more balanced but tasty for mild coffee lovers.
