A hearty sweet cup with a mild acidity, Higher Ground's East Timor coffee finishes with gentle cinnamon notes.

Higher Ground prides itself on its coffees that are all organic, Fair Trade, and shade-grown. Allowing the growers to keep their family farms, the Fair Trade certification ensures that these farmers benefit from economic and educational programs, while giving them the chance to grow a high-quality organic bean. The coffee plants grow in the forest canopy's shade—guaranteeing the continued survival of the forests and natural habitat for countless plant and animal species.

FAIRER MEANS
With the added income from Fair trade sales, the Café Timor Coop has been able to:

• Establish a skills development program that provides members with training in bookkeeping, management, English, and computer skills
• Create a healthcare program with nine health clinics and several mobile health clinics—providing free healthcare to all Coop members

“I know that part of the Fair Trade income that my colleagues and I generate through our sales of fresh, organic Arabic cherries is used to buy medicine for the Cooperative Dafe Timor’s primary healthcare clinics. For that I am grateful, as the clinic’s staff saved my wife’s life after she suffered complications from the recent birth of my child.”

This was just not my favorite coffee for my personal taste. A bit too strong for me. I like bold but smooth and flavorful.
