At initial set up, once the machine is filled with water, it will take approximately 4 minutes for the water to be heated. During the heating period the red light next to ‘HEATING’ on the LED Control Center will become illuminated and stay on until the water is heated, at which time the Small Mug Button will flash. Pressing the Small Mug Button starts a cleansing brew. Empty the hot water into the sink. The Brewer may take 15 seconds to reheat water between brews during which time the red light next to ‘HEATING’ may be illuminated. When the water has heated, the red light will turn off. The one-time set-up process has been completed and your Keurig Platinum will be ready to brew!

NICE, BUT...
jbviau | Wed, 01/18/2012 - 13:40...there have been reliability issues with this model. Keurig's warranty support is good, though, and you may not have a problem. Personally, I find the sweet spot with these brewers to be lower-priced; consider saving your $$ for the k-cups, which keep getting more expensive!

Chamie | Thu, 12/29/2011 - 03:51We bought this for my roommate last year after a stroke made it difficult for him to handle a full pot of coffee or carry a cup back to his room. Even with his reduced hand strength and agility, he can easily manage the Keurig's controls and make his own coffee in his room. It's funny how one little thing can make such a big difference, but not having to depend on someone else to bring him his coffee has given him back a lot of his independence. He loves experimenting with different flavors and brands of K-cups, while I like being able to have a cup of Green Mountain Wild Blueberry once in a while without opening a whole bag that will get stale before I have another cup of it. It's really nice to be able to brew a variety of different coffees without being obliged to finish off a whole bag of it if, like me, you enjoy different flavor profiles througout the day or week.

I've been using mine about 7 months and my friends love that they have choices for what flavor k cup they want while I enjoy my favs and don't have to brew a big pot of coffee when we just want one or two cups. In the evening I can have just one cup of decaf, again without having to brew a whole pot. The 60 oz. reservoir is a plus so refilling is less frequent. The adjustable temperature feature is interesting as well, because hotter or cooler water temp does make the coffee taste different! You just can't go wrong with this machine!

I am a coffee drinker in the morning, but I found that making a whole pot was the only way to get the flavor I was looking for. Every time I emptied the pot, all I could think is what a waste of coffee! Now I have the Keurig B70, and I love it! No waste and great coffee!! I also purchased the EZ-Cup for Keurig Coffee Machines & filters. Love it! I can have any coffee I want and not spend extra on the K-Cups... although I do like to have the K-Cups in the house for people that drink decaf.
