I LOVE THIS COFFEE MAKER
hippo_25th | Sun, 03/11/2012 - 22:55There is just nothing like having freshly ground coffee to brew every morning, without going through all the trouble of using a separate grinder and brewer. I love that this stores a half pound of beans (usually enough for a week for me) and grinds them fresh each time I want to brew. It allows you to choose a light, medium, or strong brew (I usually like it medium, still plenty of flavor, but no bitterness). You can also set a timer so it grinds and brews without you! Great if you want your coffee waiting for you when you get out of the shower. The only problem I have had with the machine is that if your beans are greasy at all (so, especially with flavored beans), the grind chute can get gummed up and you will brew a pot of hot water instead of coffee, which is really frustrating when you are in a hurry. It isn't hard to clean out the grind chute, but it is definitely an inconvenience. Otherwise, though, this is a great functioning coffee pot.
MAKES IT TOO EASY
kc2dpt | Sat, 03/10/2012 - 21:12I have an earlier version of this machine so please keep that in mind.
I was not in the market for an automatic drip machine but my mom, knowing I love coffee, got it for me for a present. So at first I was like, whatever, but I thought I might as well give it a try. Some details:
It can hold up to a half pound of beans in it's hopper. The hopper has a rubber seal on it so I'm not so concerned about the beans going bad in there. Also, since it's only holding a half pound you're likely gonna go through it before it has a chance to go bad. When you select the number of cups to make it automatically grinds the appropriate quantity of beans. There's a drawback here: when you are running low on beans you'll have to guess how many cups left you have. Or you can just keep backfilling it with new beans.
The machine can hold enough water to make 12 cups of coffee but you only put in as much water as you are going to brew right then. This is because while it automatically doses the beans it will use up however much water you put in there. I suppose this gives you the option of making your coffee extra strong or extra weak by putting in more of less water. It will filter the water for you which is nice.
The best part of this whole thing is where the coffee comes out. The carafe is double walled, which provides excellent insulation. That means the finished coffee can sit there and won't "cook" on a little burner, getting burnt and nasty. Many a day I have made some coffee and forgot about it for a while and came back to find tasty, coffee ready to drink.
Cleaning is easy, just some rinsing of parts under the tap.
Two complaints:
One, the lid on the carafe is designed such that it is very hard to get the last two cups out without making a mess. Since I was usually making coffee for just myself this was a frequent problem.
Two, the machine beeps when the coffee is ready but it's one little beep and that's it. Many times I just plain forgot that I had put up coffee and it just sat there until I remembered it. C'mon guys, I haven't had my coffee yet! You can't expect me to be on the ball. ;)
Verdict? It makes a very decent cup of coffee and makes it so easy to do that I eventually had to put it away because I ended up drinking WAY too much coffee. I would make some for now and some for later since the carafe kept it so well and was drinking way more than I was used to.
PERFECT MACHINE!
scmunkers | Fri, 03/09/2012 - 14:19This coffee maker gets a 5 STAR!!! You will love this coffee machine! It makes a perfect cup of coffee every single time. Buy this machine and don't think twice. You won't regret it.
VERY RELIABLE
caseyk73 | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 12:20This coffee maker not only makes a good cup of coffee, but is dependable. I had 3 other brands of "Grind & Brew" makers before this Cuisinart and either they were extremely load or the grinder would just stop working. This model is very easy to clean and once you have programmed it, you can just reset it every night and have fresh coffee in the morning. This was a great purchase.
GRIND AND BREW
d4obrien | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 08:39I had the 10 cup model for over 2 years. Loved it, but the grinder stopped working. This machine got daily use, I had it programmed to brew every morning. However, the grinder was noisy. The grinder did need cleaning after every use which was bothersome if you had to brew 2 pots consecutively. But that was a rare occasion for me.
I replaced it with the grind and brew burr grinder model.
