  • A GOOD DRIP BREWER!

    Son Ton | Mon, 01/02/2012 - 01:05

I used to own this coffee maker for a while back and remember that it make a very good cup of coffee. Also, the program-ability is very nice. Also, it is one of the few drip brewer that can deliver good temperature for correct coffee extraction without having to buy a Technivorm.

This is my auto drip machine that I got as a wedding present, but with the thermal carafe instead of the glass one. I really like this model as it seems to be able to get the water to a good temperature for brewing as right as the brew cycle finished the coffee in the pot is at about 180 degrees, which after doing all that traveling I would imagine that means it's at around 190 when brewing so I do not get the sour notes of under extracted coffee that are common in so many other makers!

  • GREAT COFFEE MACHINE

    jgreeno | Thu, 06/30/2011 - 15:15

We have had this coffee maker for quite a while and really love it. It was the only one we could find that had an auto shutoff after four hours (most are two after the program starts). Great priced machine!

  • WORKS FOR ME

    redbecca | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 20:36

I've had this coffee maker for about 5 years. It has a water filter in it, which is good, and it's programmable. It hasn't broken down. It also has the good feature of turning off automatically so it doesn't burn the coffee. Old Reliable.

  • CUISINART BREW CENTRAL GREAT CHOICE

    BarryDMill | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 19:33

We've enjoyed having the Cuisinart Brew machine. It's reliable and makes perfectly fine coffee, especially with ROASTe's various blends.

  • USED TWO YEARS, MAKES GREAT COFFEE

    pammyjo1 | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 08:31

This machine is programmable and easy to set (if you set it on clock and it stops responding, flip the dial away from clock and back, and resume setting). It is consistent and makes good coffee. We've used Bunn, Mr. Coffee, and others and this is at least as good as any of those. It uses cone filters--harder to locate, but I get them bulk online and they cost way less.
I use it in two ways: program it for when my husband gets up, with a full pot, and use it for a half pot later using the 4-cup function. The 4-cup function speeds up the brewing and makes smaller pots taste better.
Sometimes I use filtered water in our coffee and sometimes not, depending on the time of year and condition of filtered water.
These come with 3-year warranties and I think it is worth paying a bit more because of the longer warranty.

  • OLD STANDBY

I have had this one for a few years. My wife uses it every morning and it has served us well. No issues to report.

  • RELATIVELY HASSLE-FREE

    jbviau | Tue, 06/07/2011 - 12:34

I used this for several years before my current "coffee geek" phase. Never had a problem with it, though admittedly my coffee standards were lower back then. It's nice that you can adjust the temp. of the warming plate on this unit.

Great coffee maker for the money. Never had a problem and have used it for a couple years now. I'd buy again.

  • INCONSISTENT?

    ryanls | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 16:25

I have used 3 of these:

One at a family member's house has been brewing pretty good coffee for years without a hitch.

One at a family member's office seems to do fine with light duty usage.

The one I've used most recently is at my office. For some reason, even with good-quality beans freshly ground in a burr grinder, I get a drinkable but flat-tasting cup. We are using bottled spring water. Not sure what the problem is. It seems like the hot water is delivered too slowly, which makes for a slow brew cycle. A 1/2 batch (6 cups) can take upwards of 5 minutes. I feel like pushing the batch size / brew time any longer than that just over-extracts the coffee.

  • MAKES COFFEE, LOOKS GOOD DOING IT

    Shane.Loidolt | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 13:32

I've had this machine for a couple years now, and it's worked daily without fail. Despite it having the gold filter, I still use unbleached filters for cleaning ease, as the coffee tastes the same either way. But I digress.

Only thing I don't like about this maker is how grimy the top portion gets...you can't see it from the outside, and it cleans with an easy wipe (even has a self cleaning setting), but it is an extra step.

On the plus side, it is programmable, relatively quick (I mean, it does take time to boil water and filter it through grinds, but no significant delay otherwise).

For the money, it seems very well made- I have actually suggested it to a few friends and they've been happy.

  • REALLY LIKE THIS COFFEE MAKER

    handsandhart | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 12:29

If I am not in a hurry to brew coffee I prefer my french press, however, if I need coffee to be ready at a certain time or have lots of company this coffee maker does the trick. It looks nice out on the counter and I have always like Cuisinart products. I have a mesh coffee filter cone for it so I never have to buy paper filters. It does get a little finicky when I try to brew a full 12 cups. This is very rare and I am fine with just brewing two batches instead. It also has a 1-4 cup option, which is great since I am really the only one in my house that drinks coffee. Overall, I would recommend this to a friend.

  • AMAZING COFFEE MAKER! BEST

    divagoddess_02 | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 12:16

Amazing coffee maker! Best thing about it- It beeps when the pot is done brewing, and beeps before it is about to turn off. Brews the best coffee!

Only downside, the clock is sometimes difficult to set.

  • HATE THIS COFFEE MAKER!

    cb_colo | Sun, 06/13/2010 - 22:46

We bought this coffee maker for 2 reasons:
    1. Consumer Reports rated it very highly (and I generally trust their reviews)
    2. It looks fantastic and matched the appliances in our new house, where the kitchen is visible from the family room.

I have never gotten a good cup of coffee out of this thing - ever! We always use fresh filtered water. We bought an expensive burr grinder, and tried adjusting the grind, that didn't help. I've tried using different beans, that hasn't helped. But the funny thing is that our old, slightly ugly, Mr. Coffee machine made way better coffee than this ever did!

I wonder if it has something to do with the cone shaped coffee holder? (our old one is the flat bottom kind)

In any case, I would discourage anyone from spending $75-$100 on this machine when one that is only $25 will outperform it.
