Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Coffee Maker 3-Cup is a type of stovetop espresso coffee maker first patented by the Italian Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. His company Bialetti continues to produce the same model known as the "Moka Express". Most commonly used in Europe, the moka pot has become known as an iconic design, displayed in modern industrial art museums, such as the Science Museum in London.
Mokas come in different sizes from 1-cup to 12-cups. It’s important to remember that to Europeans, an espresso “cup” is a 2-oz. measure. A 12 cup capacity is really only equivalent to three 8 oz. cups. ROASTe recommends that its customers purchase at least 1 size larger Bialetti than they think they need; our customers have been happiest with the larger Bialettis to compensate for the small European-sized cup measurements.
Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Coffee Maker 3-Cup features:
• Stovetop brewer makes three 2-ounce cups of moka coffee in just 4 to 5 minutes.
• Made of durable polished aluminum in a now-famous octagon shape.
• Flip-up top and side-pour spout provide added convenience.
• Wash by hand with warm soapy water and rinse clean.
• Made in Italy.

EASY CUP
avaserfi | Tue, 01/31/2012 - 11:16These brewers are fairly easy to use and can make a decent up. I prefer pour over, but that is a more time consuming thought requiring process which doesn't always lend itself to early mornings.
A CUTE BREWER THAT ACTUALLY BREW GREAT STRONG COFFEE!
Son Ton | Sat, 12/31/2011 - 19:58I would not call the coffee from the Bialetti espresso but it is a very strong and good coffee. I used to drink moka pot coffee when I started out and have found memories of the coffee from it. Basically, you want really good and fresh coffee bean, grind to a consistency between drip and espresso, dose the basket so that it is full but do not force or tamp the basket. I usually put hot water into the base so that it can finish brewing faster and remove the unit from the stove when it start making loud hissing noise so that the coffee is not burnt. I have the slightly larger capacity unit but I guess it should make similar good coffee.
COMPACT MOKA
EricBNC | Fri, 12/23/2011 - 22:12this is a smaller size for one of these moka pots - aluminum means great heat transfer too for fast brewing - I am a big fan of the Bialetti brand.
NICE, BUT MINE BROKE AFTER A
broseph | Mon, 11/21/2011 - 08:43Nice, but mine broke after a year and replacing the gasket didn't seem to do the trick.
MOKA
yeahyeah | Mon, 11/14/2011 - 13:16Easy preparation and a cheap way to get strong coffee. But, I haven't touched mine for some time because I was never able to extract the coffee properly, which is really just an inherent problem with moka pots. If you are looking for cheap, concentrated coffee without an espresso machine I'd consider the aeropress as well.
I HAVE THIS AND THE BIALETTI
Joe Robertson | Thu, 09/15/2011 - 19:19I have this and the Bialetti Brikka, which are both great makers. The Moka will give you less trouble and possibly be a lot more consistent, though. Do not hesitate to buy a Moka Express if you're thinking about it, they're cheap and great. This 3-cup is good for personal use.
GREAT UNIT
speedstar | Sat, 07/02/2011 - 16:15I have this unit for about a year now and it is a very nice addition to the kitchen. Highly recommended.
GLAD I HAVE ONE
swsimmons | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 08:07I was first introduced to the Moka pot 3 years ago from friends that came over from austalia. They were making fun of my weak drip coffee I was making at home. Once I tried the moka pot I was hooked. I had better luck using more water, using a fine grind (almost an espresso grind) and more coffee than I thought I would need. Once i haad all this figured out (and that I need to keep stove on low) I had really good strong coffee with almost espresso like crema on top. Please note you will need to dry all pieces thoroughly to aviod pitting in the aluminum. This is also a great backup when my espresso machine is broken or when I am camping. I have tried other moka pots but this one is not only more authentic bast works the best so far.
MOKA POTS, THE ITALIAN STANDARD
jmgarner01 | Wed, 04/27/2011 - 07:59I enjoy my moka pot. It's not an espresso machine as many might think, but more of a strong coffee brewer. If you grind and dose correctly, you can make an excellent cup. Deep, rich, and reddish coffee is what you're looking for. Add some hot milk and you'll have a great cafe au lat.
BIALETTI MOKA POT
pgreene | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 22:03I almost always use my espresso machine for myself, but sometimes guests don't want espresso or someone wants to make coffee when I'm not home. Also nice to make a larger quantity of strong coffee.
I used to use these for myself as well. I always added sugar to coffee I made in these (I don't for espresso) I don't know if my tastes have changed or it's the nature of the beverage. I think moka coffee would make a nice milk drink.
Different sizes for different quantities, we have a generic 12 cup as well.
I line the handle up over the burner grid (gas stove) so it doesn't get hot, and turn off the heat after the pot is about half way done, so I don't overheat the coffee.
WORKS VERY WELL AND MAKES
karl1402 | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 09:54Works very well and makes extremely rich coffee. Only concern is that it naturally gets very hot. Would recommend. Quality is outstanding.
GREAT STOVETOP - I LIKE BIALETTI
tzahif1 | Mon, 06/14/2010 - 06:41Bialetti's stovetops are my favorite. Very accurate, long lasting and making the great coffee.
THESE ARE ESPRESSO-SIZE "CUPS"
Euro-Goods Imports | Wed, 03/17/2010 - 04:26These machines consider a small 2oz to be "a cup." That is a European-sized espresso cup.
IT IS SMALLER THAN ONE CUP.
pkamran | Tue, 03/16/2010 - 10:17It is smaller than one cup. If I knew it i would have ordered the largest size. Can I send it back and buy the larger one??
BIALETTI MOKA EXPRESS
Medieval0072 | Wed, 03/03/2010 - 11:17I can't say enough about this machine. It is well constructed and easy to clean. Shipping was excellent. I must admit, I was not sure if I should order coffee and equipment on-line my expierence has made me a life long customer.
BIALETTI MOKA EXPRESS STOVETOP COFFE MAKER
guillermo_moran | Thu, 02/04/2010 - 18:36I am very pleased with the purchase of the Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Coffe maker. As compared with a French Press I have I like this Moka express better to make espressos.
SEAL LEAKS
ceronsky1 | Tue, 02/02/2010 - 10:41the overall product is good, however the seal between the two main compartments leaks a bit. this doesn't result in any major defect, but the pressure decreases and steam leaks out and onto the stove.
After submitting this review, I received a replacement part from the company that resolved the problem--thank you!
