Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Coffee Maker 12-Cup is a type of stovetop espresso coffee maker first patented by the Italian Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. His company Bialetti continues to produce the same model known as the "Moka Express". Most commonly used in Europe, the moka pot has become known as an iconic design, displayed in modern industrial art museums, such as the Science Museum in London.
Mokas come in different sizes from 1-cup to 12-cups. It’s important to remember that to Europeans, an espresso “cup” is a 2-oz. measure. A 12 cup capacity is really only equivalent to three 8 oz. cups. ROASTe recommends that its customers purchase at least 1 size larger Bialetti than they think they need; our customers have been happiest with the larger Bialettis to compensate for the small European-sized cup measurements.
Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Coffee Maker 12-Cup features:
• Stovetop brewer makes twelve 2-ounce cups of moka coffee in just 4 to 5 minutes.
• Made of durable polished aluminum in a now-famous octagon shape.
• Flip-up top and side-pour spout provide added convenience.
• Wash by hand with warm soapy water and rinse clean.
• Made in Italy.

A PERFECTLY GOOD WAY TO MAKE STRONG COFFEE!
Son Ton | Sat, 12/31/2011 - 19:42I would not call the coffee from the Bialetti espresso but it is a very strong and good coffee. I used to drink moka pot coffee when I started out and have found memories of the coffee from it. Basically, you want really good and fresh coffee bean, grind to a consistency between drip and espresso, dose the basket so that it is full but do not force or tamp the basket. I usually put hot water into the base so that it can finish brewing faster and remove the unit from the stove when it start making loud hissing noise so that the coffee is not burnt. I have the smaller capacity unit but I can appreciate why someone would want a bigger unit such as this so that they can serve coffee when they have guests over.
EXTRA LARGE MOKA
EricBNC | Fri, 12/23/2011 - 22:13this is a very large size for one of these moka pots - aluminum means great heat transfer too for fast brewing - I am a big fan of the Bialetti brand.
GREAT STOVETOP COFFEE MAKER
Liz | Mon, 11/14/2011 - 19:43I'm a long-time fan of Bialetti stovetop coffee makers. I've had them over the years and they're dependable, easy to use, simple to clean and brew up a great cup of coffee. I also love their look and the Italian history behind them. If you don't have a Moka Express, you may not be familiar with its unique design. It's charming--especially in the 3 cup size. The word "cute" is definitely appropriate.
There's a top and a bottom. After you add water to the bottom chamber and insert the coffee funnel, screw on the top. Place it on the burner. Be sure the hot area of your burner doesn't extend beyond the diameter of the bottom chamber. The heat (or flame) could affect the side and top of the pot, and potentially burn the handle. The water will boil up through the grinds and into the top chamber. At that time, it's ready for drinking! And I find it stays hot in the pot a nice long while.
Recently, I purchased the big daddy 12-Cup model. Same design, same aluminum body with top and bottom chambers. It makes a great pot of coffee--enough for several 6 oz cups and more if you're using demi-tasse or espresso cups. So while the smaller pots are terrific, when you have a number of people over, the 12-cup version is a must.
The only drawback may be that it's a bit unwieldy for smaller hands due to its size. So when unscrewing it to clean, you may have to work at it a bit more than with the 3-, 6- and even the 9-cup models.
If you seek a simpler way of making coffee, then the Bialetti Moka Express model (made since about 1933 in Italy) may be just the choice for you.
NICE MOKA POT

EASY PEASY
vghozlan | Mon, 09/26/2011 - 12:50The Bialetti Moka Express is a very easy stove-top espresso machine to use. I used Illy coffee to make wonderful cappuccinos. The price is good if you do not want to buy an expensive machine.

WHATTA CUPPA!!!!
christuris | Sat, 07/10/2010 - 19:58There's nothing like coffee made with this coffeemaker, especially a great coffee like Lavazza Qualita Oro. What a combination! The Bialetti coffeemaker is a step up from other coffeemakers I've had of the same genre, and I hope to have it perking away for years to come! I've had to purchase this sixe and style in France and Italy before this, and had no idea that they were available online...

BIALETTI MOKA EXPRESS STOVETOP COFFEE MAKER - 12 CUP
plc15 | Wed, 02/03/2010 - 11:15I had a 12 cup Bialetti Moka Express Coffee Maker for almost 35 years. It was and still is making coffee perfectly. The only problem was that after that many years it was not table presentable any more, so I decided to purchase a new one. This new one I now have turns out the same wonderful expresso that I have been used to for years, only now it has the brand new look that my guests can admire. I couldn't be happier. Keep up the good work and customer relations. In other words, don't change a thing. Thank you.
