Yama Reusable Syphon/siphon Metal Screen filter assembly fits all Yama coffee syphons.

The reusable metal siphon can be used with all of our siphons EXCEPT for the SY-8, 8 cup siphon. The chain on the filter is just a little bit too short for the longer tube on the 8 cup.

    I like the idea of a reusable filter screen - This is the brand of coffee siphon I will get since the parts support is strong.

    These are much better than the stock cloth filters for one simple reason: cleanliness. The cloth holds onto coffee oils and the threads begin to wear. The result is poor filtration. These metal screens have a much longer life and do just as good of a job (and without the taste of burnt cloth).

    This is a very nice reusable filter. Its well constructed and heavy which seems to add balance to the Yama siphon. I like the fact that it can be opened which makes it easy to clean and change out the metal grid filter. The only issue I have that it can be a bit tricky to open it especially after using it. But other than that, its great especially if you want your coffee to keep all the oils for a richer, bolder flavor compared to using the cloth filter.

    This works well. You can also sub out the metal filter for paper, cloth, or a different kind of metal filter.

    Its extra weight keeps it at the bottom of the top glass part and to boot, it is super easy to clean!

    I recently bought this along with the Yama 8 cup siphon. The filter is a perfect match to the coffee maker. I specifically bought this because I don't like cloth or paper in contact with my coffee. I can taste the difference. I don't know if it is that the absorbent filter leaves something in the coffee or that it removes the coffee oils. Either way, I feel that the coffee loses some of it's richness with an absorbent filter.
    The stainless screen is extremely fine and stops the sediments from going down into the coffee. This means that even when reheated (microwaved) hours later the coffee still has a clean taste to it.
    The filter is easy to assemble, and easy to clean. Sometimes I don't even remove it from the pot, I just aim a jet of water at it from the hand held spray and the cake of dry coffee grounds flushes away.
    My only want, is replacement screens for the filter. I am opposed to wantoned waste of materials and the only part of this filter that will ever fail is the screen. It may be available, but I haven't seen it.
    Overall I have to say that this is an excellent product worthy of a five bean rating.
