  • NOT QUITE PERFECT

    mrs.schrody | Thu, 06/30/2011 - 16:32

This isn't a bad press, it's just not quite as easy to clean as it's larger counterpart. It's good for when I get a new brew & I just can't wait to try it out. The 12oz capacity means I don't get a whole mug, which is great when I don't want to over caffeinate myself - but not so great in the morning when I need a java jolt. If the price were lower I'd give it 5 cups, the 28oz version is just a few $ more.

  • FRENCH PRESS

    Gazy | Thu, 06/30/2011 - 14:59

Perhaps the only other method as good as a Press for brewing coffee is Arabic (or Turkish, if you please)
Only with the Press one can control the intensity of the final product, from very light to very dark, by managing proportions and brewing time.
Mind my saying it, but the Press allows me to brew a mug-full of "espresso", instead of the usual thimble-sized produced by espresso machines.
Furthermore, if I ever prepare iced coffee, I would follow the Press method: use cool water and let stand in the fridge until the brew is done.

  • BEST WAY TO BREW COFFEE

    isacoconut | Tue, 06/28/2011 - 08:47

I finally caved and bought myself a French Press after being more and more dissatisfied with my drip machine. If you're a drip user, make the switch! French Presses will make the richest, smoothest cup you'll ever have. I like buying whole bean coffees instead of pre-ground, as it's best to use a coarse grind with a press (most pre-ground coffees are ground med/fine for drip machines) and it stays fresher for significantly longer if stored properly. This 2-cup machine does NOT make two 8-oz cups - it makes two 6-oz cups, which is the perfect amount for my travel mug. I wish this machine were easier to clean, but I think a little more difficulty in cleaning is well worth the trade-off for such significantly better coffee!

  • LOVE IT!

    faeries7 | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 17:02

It doesn't matter what type of coffee I put into my French press, it always comes out perfect. I got a small warming pad to set mine on top of so that the coffee would stay warm without getting that horrible burnt taste. Just a warming though, once you've had your favorite coffee French Press style, you'll never go back.
