The Baratza Maestro Coffee Grinder, as attractive as it is on the outside, is much more beautiful on the inside. There in its core is the heart of a great grinder that can grind coffee beans for any style of coffee, whether an espresso machine, a drip coffee maker or press pot is used.
Originally introduced in 2001, the Maestro Coffee Grinder featured many innovations. The Maestro was upgraded in March 2007 with many more improvements, such as an increased range of adjustment, an innovative calibration system and a new powerful DC motor.
German-Made Conical Burrs
The Baratza Maestro Coffee Grinder uses the same 40 mm conical burrs as always. Conical burr grinders are exceptional at producing consistent grinds from very fine to coarse.
Grind Coffee for Any Brewing Method
The consumer can choose from many coffee grinders on the market, but few have the ability to grind fine enough for a professional espresso machine and coarse enough for a press pot. The upgraded Maestro Coffee Grinder has 40 steps of adjustment, an increase from 18 steps. The perfect setting is selected by simply turning the bean hopper to the desired position.
Innovative Calibration
Commercial grinders have a calibration system to ensure that the grinder has the range to grind fine enough for espresso and coarse enough for a press pot. Now, with the Maestro Coffee Grinder, this feature is available in a grinder designed for home use. Calibrated when manufactured, the Maestro’s grinders ensure an accurate range of grind. If desired, the user can calibrate them as well.
DC Motor
A 240-watt DC motor has replaced the former AC motor. The DC motor is twice as powerful as the AC motor and turns slowly, resulting in a cool, quiet operation which permits long grinding duty-cycles. The circuitry is equipped with an automatic resetting, thermal cutoff switch.
Special Gear Reduction
A combination of gear and electronic speed reducers is used by the Baratza Maestro Grinder to slow the spinning of the burr to 450 RPM. This slow speed reduces heat, noise, and static generation in the grinder while ensuring that the beans feed smoothly into the burrs.
On/Off Switch
The Baratza Maestro Grinder is equipped with a uniquely designed On/Off switch which may be rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise from any position without sustaining damage.
