This single-estate espresso is from Finca Santa Isabel located in Santa Rosa, about 60k southeast of Guatemala City. The highest area of the property is a protected nature reserve, where there are many diverse plant and animal species. Biodiversity and sustainability are key components in the production of Santa Isabel coffee and the preservation of their nature reserve. The Finca is certified organic and Rainforest Alliance.

Each coffee cherry at Santa Isabel is carefully selected, handpicked and then sorted, guaranteeing a consistent and top-notch coffee. Most of the coffee harvested at the finca is washed. A very small portion of the ripest coffee cherries at the finca are sun dried, which is where this espresso comes from. This slow sun-drying of the coffee bean in its own fruit is what helps create this espresso's huge fruit notes in the cup.

Like all West Bean coffees, this single-estate "natural" received its own special roasting recipe. This recipe is designed specifically to allow this great "natural" to offer all its intense fruit flavors without compromising on the body necessary for a stand-out espresso. We think you will love it!
Altitude: 3885 feet
Variety: Catuai, Bourbon, Caturra
Processing Method: Natural (sun dried)
Grade: Strictly Hard Bean
Species: Arabica
Harvest: November to February

Elegantly sweet aroma and flavor in the short cup suggests evening flowers, almond-like nut, dark chocolate and a nectarine-like stone fruit. The stone fruit develops a bright, citrusy edge in the cup. Lively, lightly syrupy mouthfeel; citrus and chocolate carry into the finish. Pronounced presence in two parts milk; the citrus and chocolate character show up with particular clarity.

  • GUATEMALA SANTA ISABEL SINGLE ESTATE ESPRESSO

My impulse buy. It came in a foil lined brown bag with information about the coffee on the front and the date of roasting on the back. The smell is incredible! Oh if only I could make a perfume out of it! The coffee itself tastes really good. It is strong and tastes good both iced and hot. I did like the hints of chocolate and bet this would taste good if I used it in cooking. This is on my reorder list!

Oh and I almost forgot. The shipping is incredibly fast!

Very good. I noticed very heavy chocolate notes. I have brewed it with both the french press and the drip maker, the chocolate notes came through heavier with the drip machine. The press pot produces a slightly more bitter cup(I prefered that). Overall a very good cup of coffee. It should be noted I did not brew for espresso, just a cup of coffee.

Solid espresso and a good coffee. This is one of the better single origin espresso that I have had, it's a very balanced espresso. I would say it's a nice chocolate sweet taste, with a nice bite. Does really well milk and with sweets, hold up well. It should be noted that it's a full pound of coffee and not a 12 oz bag, which is nice!
