Ethiopian Lekempti Longberry Espresso comes from the Lekempti region (also known as Nek'empte) located within the state of Welga, about 6 hours west by car from Addis Ababa. A small group of the region’s coffee farmers are members of the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU). Founded in 1999, OCFCU is a union of 24 small cooperatives benefiting 22,700 smallholder famer members. This longberry is grown at an altitude of 4500-6300 feet. This naturally (dry) processed bean, dried in its own fruit, is full of cherry and apricot notes with a snappy acidity and hints of a chocolaty body.
Ethiopian Lekempti Longberry was created as a result of a search for the perfect single-origin espresso. To emphasize the rich chocolate body this coffee is capable of producing, the West Bean roasters did one roast longer and darker to add depth to the body. They did another roast to capture the fruit for which this Ethiopian Lekempti is famous, roasting the coffee lighter with a higher air-flow to preserve the dried cherry and apricot tones. The blended result is this amazing single-origin espresso. This coffee comes from a certified fair-trade organic farm.

REVIEWS & COMMENTS
ETHIOPIAN LEKEMPTI LONGBERRY ESPRESSO
jlarue | Wed, 04/18/2012 - 12:47Brewed with french press. The aroma after grinding fresh put expectations high. Strong fruity almost sour aroma with stron chocolate notes. Unfortunatly after brewing and cupping, those strong aromas mellowed considerably. Still a good cup, but not as pronounced as when ground.

SURPISED BY THE BRIGHTNESS, NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM DESCRIPTION
kristinmmc | Mon, 08/08/2011 - 19:23I was surprised by the bright and almost sour taste. I'll stick with the Sidamo the West Bean in the future. It's definitely unique!
