Ethiopia Amaro Gayo - Organic Coffee is dry processed and features the close to ferment similar to Idido Misty Valley. This complicates the profile of this truly extraordinary coffee. The aroma of pungent berry (cherry, blueberry and strawberry) is enticing, followed by sweet citrus and a vibrant but smooth acidity. This leads to a beautifully full mouthfeel hinting of dark chocolate and red wine notes, all in all a very spirited yet clean, medium balanced coffee.

Ethiopia Amaro Gayo - Organic Coffee Features:

• Exported through Ethiopia`s only female miller/exporter, the exceptional Asnakech Thomas. One of Ethiopia coffee’s most inspiring figures - native to the Amaro region -Asnakech decided to return to her homeland in 2005 to improve the local coffee quality. She is one of the few people who travel between Addis and the coffee areas on a weekly basis.
• The Amaro Mountains, a small range, separate the communities of Amaro on the eastern slopes from Nechisar National Park and the lowland tribal areas of Arba Minch in southwest Ethiopia, Sidama region. The many unique qualities of this area include relatively light population, waterfalls and highland bamboo forests.
• All Amaro Gayo coffee is certified organic. Prices paid for this coffee are at the extreme high end of market. There are social programs being planned which include the potential to assist with capacity building and coffee job creation, schools, clean water and medical care.

I buy coffee for my husband who is picky, but not terribly so. He'll drink the Folger's Select in a pinch. We brewed one pot of this coffee and he threw the rest out. We won't be getting this again!
