Much like their GG blend, the origins of this coffee are muted by the darker roast leaving it in more of a comfort food type state. If you are looking for chocolate covered berries here, I would move on. If you are looking for something that is easily palatable or you're sensitive to acidity and brightness - this could easily be a great pick. It mixes ok with milk and doesn't do too bad in a cappa - which is just as well because you won't be missing a lot as this makes a dull straight shot. It doubles down in the pour-over for a cup of drip in the same fashion as it does espresso. You could bring this one into the office and not worry about it "falling on deaf ears" so to speak since it lacks complexity and character. It does make for an easy going cup which could be brewed to please most "casual" coffee drinkers easily.

  • A NICE ORGANIC ETHIOPIA YERGACHEFFE OROMIA COFFEE

The package arrived in good condition but there is no roast date on the bag. The coffee smells nice, but personally I like seeing the roast date on the bag. I brewed a cup in my Clever Coffee Dripper with a rinsed bleach white filter using 20 grams beans ground at (#20 of 40?) the middle setting on my Baratza Maestro. I then added 350 grams of once boiling water (30 seconds rest) and brewing for 3 minutes before draining into my cup. The cup does not present as strong an aroma as I hoped for, but the aroma offered up is decent. The cup begins with a taste of citrus fruity acidity that grows sweeter as it cools while joining with hints of chocolate in the finish.

I think this one is more about the presentation of the roaster's style than any unique qualities in the bean - it's good quality though - but I am not getting the roller coaster ride of flavors I recall tasting recently with other lighter roast S.O. Ethiopians. That said, the price is nice and the results in the cup are too, just be aware this is not as edgy as some other single origin Ethiopian beans available here on ROASTe.
