Its 15 bar pressure is the essential feature that allows it to make deliciously good coffee; the high the pressure the stronger tasting the drink is.
The Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo uses Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee capsules that come in a variety of flavours. The use of pods does ensure you a quick cup of coffee, though not as environmentally friendly as their packaging is not recyclable.
The easily removable filter can hold only 0.7 litres of water, which isn’t a great deal, but this is a Piccolo machine, designed for use by one or two people, not an entire work force.
The Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo comes with an adjustable drip tray that can accommodate a variety of mugs, cups and glasses. The manual control of cup filling quantity is a nice feature too, meaning that you do get a little more control over the coffee making process than with other automatic machines.
The Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo may not be very green in terms of pod package recycling but it does come with an energy efficient auto shut down – after five minutes of no use, it will deactivate.
The power button is a bicolour LED that glows green when it’s on and red when it’s off or deactivated, helping you to know when it’s time to shut down.
Some common complaints with the Krups KP1006 Dolce Gusto Piccolo include the fact that it does not retain heat in the cup very well. The cost of the pod refills has also been an issue with a lot of consumers.
