Masters milk with a gentle, brandied chocolate authority."

  • OUTSTANDING

    stevenrosburg | Fri, 03/25/2011 - 16:19

This makes a fabulous mocha. The espresso really stands up to the milk and has a nice bold flavor.

It also makes a great latte or stand-alone espresso. This is the best espresso I've ever had.

  • NICE AND WELL BALANCED

    bh_aragorn | Sun, 02/27/2011 - 08:28

Well balanced everyday espresso. Needed a much coarser ground than the Vivaces on my combo (Gaggia Carezza with Ascaso i-mini). 17g in the double basket made a nice cup of espresso with lots of flavor.

  • LOVE MY MORNING COFFEE

    Just Me | Tue, 02/15/2011 - 20:36

I use this as my morning coffee...and I love it. I look forward to the first sip of the deep, dark, creamy mouthful. No bitterness, just real, full, coffee flavor. This one is a keeper for sure!!

  • PLEASANT

    xprzzo | Sat, 02/05/2011 - 11:28

but at 12.5 for 12 oz, I think there are better choices out there. Not a huge fan of the 'pungent' part that is advertised and clearly there.

  • NICE.

    homerepairbear | Sun, 01/23/2011 - 21:37

Thoroughly enjoying the Belle Espresso from Klatch.
Huge chocolate with a smooth caramel finish, and just a enough of roast to add depth.
I'll buy this again for sure.

  • BELLE ESPRESSO

    JmanEspresso | Sun, 01/23/2011 - 20:52

One of my long time favorite espresso blends, and the first espresso blend I ever had.. nay, the first COFFEE I ever had that was fresh roasted.

The flavor profile as changed a bit since I first tried it, but Ive been ordering Belle at least once a month with my other coffees for a long time now. It used to be a very noticeable Chocolate Covered Cherry with a slight hint of brandy or congnac at the end. Now, the milky sweet chocolate is still there, and the body is still thick and rich.. But the fruit is now much more berries. I get blackberry mostly, with some of the twang of a raspberry.

Still a very, very good espresso, just different then what it used to be.

One of my favorites.. Very easy to work with.. Highly Suggested.

  • VERY NICE

    Tmones | Fri, 01/14/2011 - 15:31

I ordered over the new years holiday but still received order in a reasonable time to the east coast. I won't pretend to be a master barista by any means but I do get some nice flavors from Belle. For me, I get some marzipan and fig. Nice and balanced, will purchase again.

  • KLATCH BELLE IS GREAT

    cybertronx | Thu, 12/23/2010 - 13:12

  • GREAT ESPRESSO

    gary55 | Mon, 12/20/2010 - 20:25

Received my order 4 days after roast date and ground up some for two straight double shots of espresso. Nice balance of flavor, chocolaty, caramel, no bitterness, and lots of crema. My home setup is a Gaggia Baby / Cimbali grinder and after my first taste I have just three words....WOW,WOW, and WOW. Will be ordering it again after I drink up these two pounds. Also like how you can upgrade to a two pound bag.

  • AWESOME!

    billman1020 | Mon, 12/20/2010 - 11:22

I love this blend - I probably use it most often in a small cappuccino - about 5oz or so - but also love it as a straight shot. It has a really nice balance and I'd definitely categorize it as a sort of "comfort" espresso - not too too fruity or acidic, and lots of nice chocolatey sweetness without being unbalanced. I love the 2lb upsizing option too!!

  • VERY NICE

    matt3 | Tue, 12/07/2010 - 09:18

Very nice, very smooth. Even a bit chocolatey. Proper brew pressure seems critical with this, but that's no real complaint.

  • A FAVORITE AT OUR OFFICE

    jaybuchanan | Wed, 12/01/2010 - 18:43

I work for a food development company. The food technologists here are very critical about their coffee. We have tried beans from many different roasters. And the Belle Espresso from Klatch is their favorite.

  • TERRIFIC ESPRESSO

    Mikebernholc | Wed, 12/01/2010 - 11:52

This roast has quickly become my favorite espresso roast. I first tasted it at my father's house where he introduced it to me, made from his top of the line manual machine. Now I have my own beans at my house and even using a lesser personal super-automatic machine the coffee is still terrific. The taste is creamy and chocolatey and wonderful. I would recommend this roast to anyone whether your brewing equipment is a few hundred, or if it is a few thousand. Definitely try this!

  • IT IS GOOD, BUT

    Botanica37 | Fri, 10/29/2010 - 18:07

I am having hard time dialing the grinder and figuring out the dose on this blend. Their website suggests 20 g for a double, but that overloads my basket (Quickmill Alexia). So far the dose that works for me is 17-18g for double and I get decent shots. Once in a while, I get amazing shots but I haven't figured out the magic combination yet.

    12345

  • WOW!

    Jen | Fri, 10/08/2010 - 14:35

I ordered this at the same time as World's Best. The first week was spent enjoying World's Best and this Belle went straight in the freezer. I was a little nervous as I'd never frozen beans before. I took this out the night before and let it thaw, and have been using it for a few days now. WOW! It's amazing! I will definitely be ordering more of this. It is so smooth. I get chocolate and caramel and dose 15g for my mini Viv II. Very tasty!

  • STRONG, PUNGENT, SAVORY

    Scott Lush | Tue, 09/14/2010 - 10:43

Klatch Belle Espresso had a strong pungent savory flavor that I loved and would definitely get again. It reminds me of bratwurst, Guinness beer, blue cheese, even barbeque. In coffee terms, I tasted nut, molasses, chocolate, licorice even a touch of smokey hickory. Really wide variety of strong enjoyable flavors.

Excellent "comfort food" espresso blend. Plenty of dark chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, brandy flavors Great crema. Works well overdosed 19g+ 92C, 30 sec on my setup (Brewtus 2). Great value in 5 lb bags with ebeans and free shipping

  • DELICIOUS

    rotwang | Wed, 09/01/2010 - 19:49

Even with my n00bish technique and mediocre grinder I haven't had a bad shot with these beans in the 2 days I've had them. The crema is wonderful, taste is rich and smooth. I've been drinking this mostly as straight shots, but it's made a couple nice cappuccinos as well. I'll definitely be ordering this blend again.

    andytblood | Wed, 08/18/2010 - 11:32

  • EXCEPTIONAL

    Lisa | Sun, 08/01/2010 - 11:47

This coffee reminds me of a fine scotch. Smooth flavors. Incredible smell. This is a coffee meant to be consumed in crystal instead of glass or porcelain. This is a coffee meant to be consumed to celebrate the end of a business deal or intense negotiations. Something to serve when you really want to impress. I enjoyed it. I will order it again.

  • NICE AND EASY

    Tom | Tue, 07/20/2010 - 09:01

This bean was very easy to dial in with my equipment. It's very good but still not my favorite bean to date. It's got a nice smooth sweet caramel crema and a balanced chocolate undertone that has been great in my lattes. It arrived just 3 days post roast to the east coast. I'd recommend giving it a try. It might just be your favorite! I will buy it again.

  • FIRST IMPRESSION

    MindsEye | Thu, 07/08/2010 - 17:25

I've only just tried this for the first time. I normally like very robust espresso as a macchiato. This bean is very mild compared to what I usually drink but so far I like it. A little hint of caramel perhaps. I have to go very easy on the foam with no liquid milk at all if I want something approaching a macchiato. I almost prefer it as straight espresso.

  • ONE OF THE BEST

    leslieooienglee | Tue, 06/29/2010 - 22:58

This blend sits up there among the best. That brandy-like finish is irreplaceable.

  • KLATCH BELLE ESPRESSO

    ripantuck | Thu, 07/22/2010 - 10:27

I have had this coffee for more than a week now and have made coffee that ranges from very good to excellent with my Aeropress. Need more experimenting, but it appears to me that it makes the best coffee using a bit higher temperatures and a bit coarser grind than my usual. The best cups I have made have been really good- sweet and with a chocolate caramel taste. However, some have been a little bitter and muddy. Strangely, the bitter and muddy cups seem to have been at the recommended 180 degrees, and the smoother cups have been around 190 degrees and using a slightly coarser than espresso type grind.

Need to follow up in another week or two after more experimenting.

Follow-up. After about 7 days and a bit of experimenting with my grind, this coffee improved substantially. Therefore, I am raising it to 4 stars. It is as good as the best after it ages a week or two. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it seems to be a bit sensitive to brewing temperature, grinds, time etc. and it doesn't have the pronounced cherry flavor that I get in my standard- Espresso Vivace Dolce. It does, however have a nice chocolate, caramel flavor and it is very smooth and delicious.

I rate it a best buy.

Important Disclaimer! I use the Aeropress exculsively to brew a strong, Espresso-like brew and almost always add steamed, foamed milk for a cappuccino-like drink. Coffee may act and taste differently using a modern espresso machine.

  • GREAT ESPRESSO

    Wakeknot | Tue, 06/15/2010 - 09:54

The first time I got this espresso I was not a big fan, but the second time I got it I loved it. The difference was that the first time I was pulling 14-16g shots and the second time I was using a triple basket with 18-21g. It is now one of my favorites. (At a low dose I'd rate it 2-3 beans and at a high dose closer to 4.5-5 beans. Since it is so picky I settled on 4 as the final rating).

  • KLATCH BELLE - FORGIVING AND ALWAYS A CROWD PLEASER

    swsimmons | Tue, 06/15/2010 - 05:31

Always tastes great shots or cappas. Delivery was super fast, aroma out of the bag is fantastic. I pulled shots at 201 degrees, 19 grams, triple basket. Great crema really sweet shot and still works well in a samll cappachino.

  • VERY GOOD, HINTS OF

    aknight165 | Sun, 06/13/2010 - 22:40

Very good, hints of chocolate. Not overpowering, well balanced. As always, Klatch sent the order out early in the morning the next day after I ordered and I received it a day after that. I live in Long Beach, not too far from Klatch, but I'm still constantly amazed at how quickly they get the coffee to me.

  • KLATCH - BELLE ESPRESSO

    ttanouye | Wed, 06/09/2010 - 22:07

Went to visit the Klatch coffee shop in Rancho Cucamonga a couple of weeks ago and purchased a bag each of the House & Belle espresso – 4 days post roast.
My initial impression of the House & Belle blend was good – hints of chocolate & caramel, but not a blend that would make me want to change from my “Goto” blend, Vita.
I played around with dose, temperature, and grind for a few days and settled on 18 grams dose and 201.2 degrees netting 1.5 oz. – taste was ok, but something happened on the 7th day.
Taste went from good to great - chocolate and caramel favors were so intense that I thought my dose or grind had changed.
Tried another bag of Belle with the same results.

    Drinks made:
    Cappuccino: 7oz
    Latte: 12oz

    Other espressos tried:
    Intelli – Black Cat
    Klatch – House
Espresso Vivace – Dolce & Vita

    18 grams
    201.2 degrees
    25-30 sec
    1.5-1.75oz

    Machine: Vivaldi Mini II
    Grinder: Vario

  • THE ESPRESSO WAS GREAT

    valifrank | Mon, 06/07/2010 - 01:32

The espresso was great during the first ten days, but is best consumed in this period. Once it's slightly stale the taste turns quickly, unlike some others that have a more gradual decline.

  • KLATCH SHIPS FAST AND THIS WILL BE MY GOTO ESPRESSO

    kopiMonk | Fri, 06/04/2010 - 23:51

Pleasantly surprised at Klatch shipped this product considering I live in the east coast and they are on the west. Got my package 2 days after it was roasted.

The beans appear slightly darker then what I am used to but pulls nice rich shots. In milk drinks it helps to up-dose (at least 18gms) to make it stand up to the milk. For me, the best shots came between 7-12 days post roast. Overall, a very respectable espresso.

  • NOT IN LOVE

    jdbruce | Wed, 05/26/2010 - 19:51

  • THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE

    speedstar | Wed, 05/26/2010 - 12:15

I am very happy to see that we can get Klatch Belle here. This one has been my favorite for quite sometime. It is very forgiving and seems to do best for me at 18-19g in Synesso double basket, 202f, 1.75 oz in 30 seconds. I always get a rich, thick crema with nice sweet syrupy flavor. Thanks to Roaste for giving us this option as well.

  • SO GLAD THEY CARRY KLATCH NOW!

    navidmoradshahi | Thu, 05/20/2010 - 01:24

When I saw that ROASTe started carrying Klatch, I gotta say it made my day. I've been a fan of this roaster for a while, and gotta say I haven't been disappointed yet. They are much more forgiving than other beans I've tried and make it a lot easier to get a palatable shot in the morning when my brain is still refusing to work properly. As usual, these beans got here unbelievably fast, just a couple days after their roast date. Thumbs up to both Klatch and Roaste!

  • LOVES UPDOSING

    Steve Rhinehart | Sun, 05/09/2010 - 20:06

It took me a little while to actually dial in a grind and temperature, which would have been nicer if Klatch sold 1# batches. Once I did, however, I was rewarded with a fruity, medium bodied, and very pleasant shot. I had read that higher doses were well-rewarded, so I tried 19 grams (my usual is 17g), and got an explosion of dark chocolate and cherry notes! I went as far as a 20 gram ristretto, which yielded a syrupy, chocolaty, luscious shot I have loved repeating.
My only real issue with Belle is the 12 oz. bag size. C'mon Klatch, you've got a coffee that loves updosing, you've got to sell it in bigger batches! The price is right for the size, though, so I can't complain.

  • KLATCH BELLE ESPRESSO

    adam_sickles | Thu, 05/06/2010 - 16:16

Compared to many of the guys on home-barista.com, i'm a newbie and not in a position to review a coffee that's been rated as world's best espresso. But I'll rate anything for $5 off my next purchase.

I liked this blend; when I had it dialed in and brewing 14gram ristrettos at 203-204F, it was splended: a tiny bite of brightness, lots of caramel, and of course some nice bitterness.

  • RING MY BELLE!

    J_Premium | Mon, 04/26/2010 - 10:10

So glad Roaste brought Klatch along as a partner for this site.
Belle is one of the most favored and popular blends on the internet roasters block today. It's one of the blends you'll find yourself reordering and going back to, time and time again.

Works really well as a triple and prefers being updosed.
For those who love that chocolaty espresso, this one is right up your alley.

Thanks Roaste, keep bringing these exquisite roasters to the site and we'll keep buying!
