Kenya AA Plus NGUVU coffee was a delightful find after a long search! This unique Kenya AA from Central highlands is known for its distinct Kenya flavor. It’s floral and slightly fruity [ red berries ] on the nose with flavors of citrus, raspberries, and watermelon on the tongue. We searched for a Kenya worthy of the high auction prices to follow in the footsteps of our Githiru.
Kenya AA Plus NGUVU lingers sweetly a pleasingly long time with light fruit notes. With its nice body and balance in a cup with strength and complex flavors, it delivers a true Kenya experience.
Kenya AA Plus NGUVU Features:
This wet-processed, sundried coffee comes from various estates across the high growing regions of central Kenya. NGUVU is a Swahili name representing power, associated with a positive meaning of richness.
Kenya AA coffee is produced by the Kikuyu, the largest tribe in Kenya, including about 22% of Kenya's total population. During the Banti migration the Kikuyu had moved to the highlands of Kenya and settled around the Mount Kenya region.
Kikuyu fiercely resisted the British administration after they were forced to give up their fertile land to colonial rulers; they spearheaded the Mau Mau rebellion, which finally lead to the country's independence in 1963. Kikuyu believe Nagi (their god) lives at the peak of Mount Kenya - known locally as Kirinyaga, the shining mountain. It‘s said Nagi took a man name Gikuyu to Kirinyaga, where he pointed to a fig tree and told him to build his home there; this is now known as Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga. When Gikuyu went to build his home he met a woman called Mumbi. Together, they had nine daughters who consequently founded the nine clans of the Kikuyu tribe.
Kikuyu people are predominantly farmers who grow major crops of coffee and tea. They also harvest maize, beans, potatoes and fruits and raise cattle, sheep and goats. The Kikuyu are known to be good business people who live in major cities and neighboring towns around Mount Kenya.

KENYA AA PLUS NGUVU
bloommarko4 | Thu, 10/06/2011 - 12:09Winey and delicious, with berry overtones and slightly more earthiness than I am accustomed to in top Kenyans.
I prefer Costa Rican La Minita Del Sol at breakfast time, but the Kenyan makes much superior iced coffee.

Karrde | Mon, 10/03/2011 - 15:49I really enjoyed this coffee. It's a very smooth, sweet tasting roast. I ended up drinking most of it iced and the flavors worked very well there.
REALLY ENJOYED THE KENYA AND

David Babikian | Tue, 09/06/2011 - 05:39One of the top Kenyan's I've had. I have been using Terroir coffee's Kenyan's for the past few years and wanted to try something new...was not disappointed. I will be buying more.
KENYA AA PLUS NGUVU REVIEW
kinzieb | Sun, 08/14/2011 - 11:37My first order from Roaste, glad to find this site! Coffee came directly from Klatch - and fast. The best thing was the 8/9 roasting date and the 8/11 arrival date. On with the review: beans are fairly small, uniform of shape, and "dry" with no oils apparent on the surface. Great aroma in the bag, with a nice blend of earth and some tart fruit. When brewed, a very similar aroma fills the kitchen (I used a Cuisinart drip machine with built in grinder this time). Flavor is similar. When the cups and pot are fresh, there is a great balance between full bodied earthy notes and tart berry flavors. As it sits a while, the earth notes dissapate, and flavors of tart cherry and honeydew come through more. Much better when it is still a fresh pot and maintaining balance. Very enjoyable cup.
GREAT S A GIFT OR FOR YOURSELF.
vthedirector | Thu, 07/07/2011 - 15:17My parents travel all over the world and drink a lot of coffee. I purchased this for my dad for father's day and he hasn't stopped talking about it. I finally got a chance to try it and he should be talking about it. Such a nice rounded favor and it really has a touch of something beyond borders...I know that may sound a little strange. However after seeing the beans, the packaging and tasting it he was right. The culture totally translates into the cup. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for having the youngest of two older bothers out shine on my dad's big day!!!

rdbeshirs | Mon, 06/13/2011 - 04:42This was suprisingly a great coffee flavor that I will buy again. There is a mix of different flavors with each being distinct in their taste. I don't think you would be disapointed with trying this coffee.

THIS COFFEE DELIVERS
broseph | Thu, 11/11/2010 - 13:17Tasting notes are spot-on. Lovely red raspberry and watermelon-rind aroma. Tingly acidity/tartness. I like this coffee a lot, but I love this profile and a lot of people don't. (This probably isn't the best choice for a dinner party or gift, etc.)
ANOTHER NICE COFFEE FROM KLATCH
EricBNC | Fri, 08/20/2010 - 01:28Smells just awesome coming out of the bag - as usual the beans are very fresh. This one pops with rhubarb tartness along with a sweet melon finish - if you like bright Kenyan coffee then this is the best thing available on this side of the Atlantic and is as close to the Tekangu from Tim Wendleboe as I can recall tasting - hey ROASTe - next time your in Norway work out a deal with him - his beans are awesome. This one from Klatch is tart so be sure you like your beans this way before ordering and being disappointed if this type coffee isn't your style, but since this is ROASTe and your looking at these Klatch roasted beans, you know to expect this profile.
