Gaggia has updated the Baby yet again with a polished stainless steel front panel and new color options: ivory and black. The New Baby is still packed with all of the classic features that have stood the test of time during the past 25 years, including simple controls, a commercial-style portafilter made of chrome-plated brass, and a clean, attractive silhouette. The powerful, high-wattage boiler heats up in just a few minutes, and the 15-bar pump ensures a great espresso extraction every time you brew.

The New Baby also lets you create cappuccinos and lattes with ease using the Gaggia Turbo Frother, a plastic attachment on the steam wand that disperses steam perfectly for frothing milk. The removable 64oz water reservoir and ability to use Easy Serve Espresso pods add to the New Baby’s user-friendly appeal.

The Gaggia New Baby is very similar to other Gaggia line espresso machines; Gaggia Baby Twin, Gaggia Baby New Classic, Gaggia Classic and the Evolution.

This particular model while having a plastic and metal housing, has the same fantastic boiler in the machines with massive 1400 watts of power that heat it up quick in the order of 10 minutes. Also the chromed brass portafilter helps with keeping the temperature constant during brewing.

Besides the styling and few other minor features the main different with this machines and it's more expensive brothers is that it has a fixed over pressure valve, so you cannot adjust the pressure of the machine down or up. This makes it slightly hard to make espresso because you have to be better at grinding and tamping. It is however, very possible to get good espresso still though.

Other than that it's really the same machine, and should be one to consider when deciding to buy a small home espresso machine.

I've owned my Gaggia Baby for two years and have had not problems with it. I descale it every three months, back flush it twice a month. Just wish it had a bigger boiler, since I drink nothing but straight shots I have no problem but if I were to make milk drinks then you'd have to wait for the boiler to heat up to produce steam and then you are limited to making one then have to was a little to make a second. But I'm very satisfied with it since it was my first espresso machine, when I go to up grade I'll looking at either a double boiler or an HX machine with the E61 group head.
