ENTRY LEVEL MACHINE
samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011 - 17:42Gaggia machines are very good pieces of equipment that could get you into your espresso journey. Mine started with Gaggia Carezza. They're all basically the same internally except for the design, OPV, and 3 way solenoid. If taken proper care, they could last for 10 years+ with occasional gasket change. But if you want to steam and brew simultaneously, they probably can't handle it that well due to the Single boiler dual use(SBDU) nature. Also, the stock thermostat has a huge range so you have to temp surf to get the best result
Gaggia Evolution doesn't have 3 way solenoid so you have to wait ~2 minutes in between brew
GOOD BASIC UNIT
Son Ton | Sat, 11/26/2011 - 14:22I used to own this machine when I first got into espresso world. It is great, as you will pull good shot with it with the caveat that you must have a good grinder. However, the brew switch broke after 6 months of use. Also, the water tank is small and the waste tray is even smaller.
INEXPENSIVE BUT MAKES NICE ESPRESSO
EricBNC | Mon, 10/31/2011 - 18:52Inexpensive but makes nice espresso - this is very similar internally to the older Gaggia Coffee so the performance is good.
GAGGIA MACHINES ARE A GREAT ENTRY LEVEL MACHINE!
jmgarner01 | Wed, 04/27/2011 - 08:52Gaggia makes an outstanding espresso machine for the beginner. The even provide commercial style portafilters are included. The only downside the lack of a standard steam wand. That can be worked around though. Outstanding value!
GAGGIA EVO
cmeez | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 12:14A basic machine that can make fine espresso.
The machine heats up in 20 minutes or so. Comes with a real portafilter.
Small tank is easy to reach, the controls are easy to understand and use.
A great machine to start on, or for someone with a modest budget.
