Grindhouse Blueberry Fields 4 Ever Flavored Coffee will have you singing an old favorite with a new twist. For five years Brigit, Dave and Meredith ran an open coffee shop in a bookstore in Southside Bethlehem.   Their customers taught them how important a cup of fresh coffee is, but how hard it was to get a good cup. So, the three decided to take their love for fresh coffee a step further by roasting their own beans. Their goal is to supply just that to not only their local community, but to any home, no matter where that happens to be.

  • LOW ACIDITY AND A "NOT SO TART" BLUEBERRY TASTE

Since the Grindhouse Blueberry Fields 4 Ever Flavored Coffee beans arrived I have been experimenting with different methods of preparation trying to dial in the best tasting cup. This is a very dark roast for a flavored coffee - at least a Vienna roast, maybe darker. Out of my drip machine the coffee tasted bitter enough to diminish the blueberry flavor. I tried another cup using lower temps and did see a good bit of improvement. The instructions on the bag recommends brewing with a French press, so I tried that method too. Grindhouse Coffee Roasters packages these beans in a thick valve bag that is easy to reseal - I like these bags.

The dry beans give up a deep, sweet, blueberry aroma as does the press pot while brewing. The first sip presents a dark roast, low acidity coffee taste mixed with subtle non tart blueberry flavor and a slightly bitter finish. The mouth feel is full and syrupy. As it cools the taste remains the same - I think the slightly bitter aftertaste is a product of the flavoring, not the beans. Cream and sugar knock this edge off though, and most cups will be enjoyed doctored up rather than enjoyed straight. I think this would make a nice iced coffee too.

I give this one 4 stars. I tried a couple different blueberry flavored coffees and, in my opinion, a lighter roast combined with a bit more tart in the blueberry flavor makes for a better cup, so I originally was going to rate it with 3 beans. After sharing a couple pots of Grindhouse Blueberry Fields 4 Ever Flavored Coffee with flavored coffee "aficionados", the comments ran counter to mine - less tart blueberry flavor and darker, less acidic tasting coffee was a hit for them.

If you like low acidity coffee and a less tart blueberry taste, then look no further than Grindhouse Blueberry Fields 4 Ever Flavored Coffee.
