Brazil Samambia Estate, heirloom yellow bourbon, is a special varietal selection from Santo Antonio Estates. This coffee has a more focused acidity than most, with a sweet rainier cherry and plum flavor when warm that cools into a more subtle melon. A hint of currant is added to the finish.

    While gen-x is cheaper than most the roasters on here, I still consider it premium coffee and with that one would expect a roast date and packaging with a de-gassing valve.

    While darker than what I would expect from a 'medium' roast, it can still pass as such (full city), but tons of chaff, which does not help the result in the cup, or leaves you with doing the roaster's work.

    I got the advertised acidity, alright, but none of the pleasant 'side effects' of rainier cherry, plumb and melon. Overall it was all fairly flat - my guess is it was on the old side, but without a roasting date it will remain just a guess.

    The bags they were packaged in weren't sealed with a degassing valve. The first impression was horrible. It looked like someone who didn't care packed the beans. It is hard to go on from there.
