samuellaw178 | Sun, 12/25/2011 - 12:45This is an excellent quality stainless steel French Press that would last you a lifetime. It's perfect for 2-3 person per brew. The brushed finish is good if you are lazy to wipe it every time after using. The mirror finish is prettier and shinier but attracts fingerprint/water spot more easily. This will remain the look without much effort. Quality item!

Thank you for your product review and your thoughts on the inside finish of our press. The reason why it is a little rougher on the inside is as this is the actual raw material finish. Once our factory receives the raw material it polishes the material either to the mirror finish or the brushed finish as you have it on the outside of your press.

BRUSHED FINISH FRENCH PRESS
Susan T | Sat, 11/05/2011 - 15:30This is my first french press and I bought what I thought was the best. The brushed exterior does a good job of minimizing the visibility of fingerprints / dried water drops and it is a good looking addition to my kitchen. The coffee made with this tastes great.
I am a bit puzzled about why the inside of the product is brushed. The upper rim of the press is not brushed as is the outside and inside, so it was intentionally done and not a byproduct of the manufacturing process. The internal surface brushing is in a radial direction and may be adding a bit of friction as the plunger is pushed down after brewing. Possibly this adds to the fine grounds that can get by the plunger filter and can end up in the bottom of a cup of coffee. (I am using a Hario slim manual grinder with the ceramic burrs set 12 clicks from full together, as I read online is the correct setting for coarse grinding for a french press. Will try a bigger setting in the future.) It does need a quick scrub out with a standard kitchen scrub brush to clean out the inside after dumping the grounds, after which it is perfectly clean - not sure if this is due to the interior brushed surface or if this is also needed on the non-brushed mirror finished Frieling french presses.
Note that this size press produces enough coffee for two full cups. In reflection, I would have gotten the larger size. It also works fine when not filling to full capacity so you may want to consider the larger size for your purchase.
Finally, I learned that Frieling will not accept returns/exchanges for a larger unit once a Frieling french press has been used. This product was shipped directly from Frieling with ROASTe as a middle man. ROASTe needs to add Frieling's return policy to their website since it is not currently shown.
