With nuts, caramel, copious dark chocolate and the depth of a medium roast, Black Tie delivers smooth flavor without bitterness. It has great mouth feel, Brazil nut, subtle tangerine, caramel, plums and apricots. The background is earthy, with top soil, steak, smoke, and portobello mushroom. It’s medium to bright with moderate acidity
Black Tie, based upon our signature roast, brings together coffee from South America, Asia and Central America. The roast includes Bra zil Daterra Estate “Sunrise”, Sumatra Mandheling and Mexico Terruño Nayarita. “Sunrise,” from Daterra, was pioneered using impeccable processing, environmental stewardship and social responsibility while producing awesome coffee. The rare açaia varietal is prepared using a pulped natural method. Sumatra Mandheling is produced by the Medan mill in Northern Sumatra using the wet-hulling method. The beans are large, uniform and quite defect-free, which accounts for the syrupy body and sweet cup character with none of the famous Sumatra “funky earthiness.” This richness and low-acidity balances the Sunrise component perfectly. Lastly in the mix comes Terruño Nayarita, a natural dry-process coffee from a forward-searching growers’ cooperative in the shadow of Tepic, northwest of Guadalajara on the Mexican West Coast. It is a blend of Typica and Bourbon cultivars.

REVIEWS & COMMENTS
GREAT
Texmexxhexx | Mon, 03/19/2012 - 22:25I ordered this coffee based on reviews, and they were right! Great tast great daily brew!
A NICE CHANGE...
LJ Coffee | Fri, 03/09/2012 - 19:08I ordered this a few months ago and was pleased. Although this is not a heavy chocolate or high fruit note espresso, I preferred it better as a capp or macchiato. Small amounts of milk seemed to be the best for this with my brewing equipment.
EARTHY AND FULL OF CARAMEL.
avaserfi | Fri, 02/24/2012 - 16:46Earthy and full of caramel. I really enjoyed the espresso I pulled a great first coffee for my new machine. Another recommended coffee from Deep Cello.
NICE ROAST
Wakeknot | Tue, 02/07/2012 - 22:22this is a nice coffee. I think it is a good espresso, but more at home as a drip coffee for me. The Bossa also from Deep Cello, is my favorite, though of their coffees that i have tried (probably because I am an espresso guy at heart and it is a great espresso).
EXCELLENT CUP, HOWEVER I WAS
lisa | Sun, 12/11/2011 - 10:53Excellent cup, however I was hoping for a more deep flavor. Others in the house thoroughly enjoyed. I prefer a darker roast. Will order again for company, just not for my daily brew.
SOO YUMMY!

I just placed my second order and thought I should send my family and friends these coffee beans for Xmas!!

VERY GOOD BLEND WITH MILK
Karrde | Thu, 11/17/2011 - 22:04Very good blend with milk and not a bad blend served black. You can check out my more detailed review here: http://www.roaste.com/CoffeeBlogs/Karrde/What-Im-Drinking-Deep-Cello-Bla...
REALLY ENJOYING THIS
intrepid510 | Fri, 10/21/2011 - 14:21I really like this coffee, I've had it so far in both an auto drip and Clever Dripper. Both were great, the auto drip the flavor were a bit muted, but the same as the Clever. Basically I am getting lots of plum or cherry flavors, with a slight bit of acidity, and then a sweet carmel after taste. I am really enjoying the mouthfeel of this coffee, very silky! You won't be disappointed with this one.
DEFINATELY A BLACK TIE BLEND
Theburton | Sat, 10/15/2011 - 07:29I know this review has been owing for a while strangely enough with the change of seasons I've been drinking less coffee than usual and it took me a bit to brew up a pot. Now that I have I feel like I should of given this coffee more of a black tie treatment than throwing it through my drip coffee maker. Rich and full boodied without any bitterness. It made me long for a quiet morning and some time alone with a paper, a french press, and some heavy cream. It was a delightfully decadent treat in a copy.
FIT TO BE TIED!
EricBNC | Thu, 10/06/2011 - 14:48These beans smell as good as any I can recall - they have that sweet caramel and nut dry aroma that really gets me excited. The taste as a regular coffee is very good. I get moderate acidity with a sweet finish, good body and clarity in a tightly knit and clean cup. As it cools the cup remains free from any bitterness what so ever. After cooling a citrus note (the subtle tangerine found in the roaster's description perhaps?) found in the initial taste rises to prominence even though the caramel sweetness is influential to the taste as a deeper layer.
As an espresso I get moderate crema (this is not a dark roast) as I find the dark chocolate sweetness in the finish as well as the caramel sweetness in the initial taste. I do not get any bite at 198 F and 15g - probably could go higher to 201 or 202 F to find the apricot in the shot.
DEEP CELLO ROASTERS - BLACK TIE
Lisa | Mon, 09/26/2011 - 18:00Deep Cello has done it again. This is the third coffee I have tried from them and so far I have not been disappointed. It is dark and rich. It is a good, strong coffee (with chocolate and nut undertones) . A good coffee to drink in the morning before your day begins, to drink during a stressful day and to relax with after the day has ended.
EXCELLENT COFFEE
jbviau | Tue, 09/20/2011 - 10:20I'm enjoying this one very much. I'm not loving the lined but valveless paper bags the coffee ships in though. On the plus side, they ensure that your entire kitchen smells excellent. On the minus side, I have doubts (perhaps unfounded) about their ability to keep the beans fresh. I quickly transferred the beans to a mason jar and, voilà, problem solved.
DEEP CELLO'S BLACK TIE
gary55 | Mon, 08/22/2011 - 19:09I gave it a try from what I've read from some of the reviews and was glad I did, it's got a great flavor. The quick service of Deep Cello was outstanding, I ordered it on a Friday afternoon and received it the flowing Monday and ground some up that evening. It took only three days to go coast to coast Oregon to North Carolina. I usually get the same service from a local roaster here in Raleigh, NC. Counter Culture. Love the taste and will order again.
BLACK TIE BY DEEP CELLO
broseph | Sat, 08/13/2011 - 14:39Brewed it up in a Kalita Wave.
Interesting, surprising. There's this cherryish brandy quality from the natural-processed part of the blend and in the finish there's something more savory, at least when the cup's hot. As it cool, everything rounds out into a nice sweet balance.
GREAT COFFEE
Doug Pickett | Sun, 07/24/2011 - 04:11Wow this coffee is really good. I tried it on a complete whim and was really impressed. Made in a french press, this coffee is very rich and earthy. Would definitely order again.
RICH LIKE WARREN BUFFETT
Scott Lush | Wed, 07/20/2011 - 15:09This coffee is silky, rich, and very drinkable. It's one of the richest coffees I've tasted (and after testing about 300 coffees I have some experience). It's earthy, steaky, substantial, Guinness-coffee like. Chocolately, rich. With some cream it tasted like a million bucks.
BLACK TIE
Deep Cello Coffee Roasters | Wed, 07/13/2011 - 13:49I first tried the Black Tie in December. I was struck by how well balanced it was. It was rich, but not heavy, with a lot of fruits and nuttiness. And it has this chocolate texture without a lot of chocolate flavor. It's a really great coffee.
