Sumatran French Roast, from Indonesia, is probably the most full-bodied coffee in the world. It’s intriguing with its deep earthiness and moderate acidity that’s trumped by a spicy verve. The dark roast brings out the best. It’s also organic, fair trade and SVK Kosher certified.

  • WONDERFUL CUP OF COFFEE

    olsoncleaning | Wed, 12/28/2011 - 16:13

A wonderful dark roasted sumatra flavor. You can definitely tell the quality of this coffee compared to the coffee you buy in the grocery store or even heath food grocery stores. This was so fresh and has a wonderful taste.

  • SMELLS GOOD, BUT SO SO

    mneidoff | Sat, 11/19/2011 - 19:40

The coffee beans look good and smell good but the taste is thin, not full bodied, and just a so so. Could get the cheap Trader Joe's brand for half the price and get the same quality.

  • A GREAT CUP

    Bill Lush | Tue, 11/08/2011 - 12:24

Dean's Bean's has done a great job with this stuff. The out-of-the-bag perfume is about the best I've experienced, and that's just the start of an enjoyable cup. One caution: watch the water temperature. Too hot, and some scary monsters make their appearance. Hold it at 200, and you'll enjoy the benefits of a nice, long finish with no acid aftertaste. I'm not an expert on "Sumatran", but if this is typical of this origin then I'm on my way to try others. As an extra benefit, I like their old-fashioned packaging, and the lack of a one-way valve does not seem to have hurt the shelf life. It's also nice to see a pound of coffee weigh 16 oz. How quaint!

Nicely balanced coffee with no rough edges, but not enough flavor.

  • SUMATRAN FRENCH ROAST

    Arlene31 | Sun, 10/09/2011 - 17:02

Very pleased with my order. Too often Sumatra is sold in a medium roast. It is an elegant coffee even at that but this dark roast version of Sumatra is raising this coffee to its potential. Never bitter, never acidic; I will surely order again. Thank you for roasting it right.

  • NOT AS STRONG...

    mltmc | Mon, 10/03/2011 - 19:20

As other Sumatran french roasts, not quite as bold I guess you'd say. Slight bitterness in the aftertaste but overall a good dark roast.

  • SUMATRAN FRENCH ROAST COFFEE

    Daniel Francuz | Thu, 07/21/2011 - 20:40

If you are a Sumatran bean fan, you won't be dissapointed. Its a great dark roast capturing what I think are caramel highlights with very little smoke which is perfect for a Sumatran. Smoke is better suited for most other beans.

  • THE FAVORITE FRENCH ROAST IN

The favorite french roast in my house! It's like dark chocolate in a cup with that great Sumatran flavor.
