SMOKY AND SWEET
Chamie | Mon, 05/07/2012 - 11:11Smoky, sweet and totally delightful. I'm a sucker for a good, smoky, spicy Indonesian blend and Ring of Fire from Dean's Beans totally fits the bill. This is especially good as an after-dinner coffee, especially served with a creamy dessert. It's mellow, smooth and has a sweet, buttery body. It's one of the few coffees that I truly enjoy as much black as I do with cream. Nice balance of acidity and body, great in a moka pot.
RING OF FIRE
eg192 | Sun, 04/22/2012 - 14:44Nice rich, bold flavor.
A+ SUPER YUM
Aaron McCarty | Sun, 04/15/2012 - 21:52wowzer-oo, this one knocked our socks off. similar to the Rogue, these guys are dialed in to the oily and aromatic. A+, we'll be back for sure (once you're back in stock!)
JUST A GOOD MORNING COFFEE
Andrewkk | Tue, 03/27/2012 - 07:26Not sure what is in a name or how much influence that name has on my perception of what I am drinking but I made two pots of this Sunday (my wife had a mug). Wow, just kicked my day off nice. Recommended.
VERY VERY GOOD.
ljr4214 | Fri, 03/23/2012 - 12:41Very very good.
GOOD FLAVOR
ginaogden | Sat, 03/10/2012 - 21:15Ring of Fire was a wonderful blend. Lots of flavor but very balanced. Great cup of coffee.
MY HUSBAND WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT FIVE!
stephanie.alles | Fri, 03/09/2012 - 13:27This is a whole lot of coffee in a cup here. However in your face it is, though, it's still balanced and not too bitter or acidic to begin the day. My husband's favorite brew, I'd still opt for just a tad lighter Dean's Beans varietal (like Shark Bite!).
WOULD HAVE BEEN A 4-CUP RATING
Liz | Mon, 01/02/2012 - 18:42If they'd gotten the order right.
I guess this review is about not just the coffee but the poor QC of the company providing it—Deans Beans. Ordered coffee ground for espresso and got whole beans. Not the end of the world except—that's not what I ordered. And I didn't have a grinder! !@#$%&#!?
Thought about it for awhile. Grabbed a 20% off Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon that I'd almost thrown out with junk mail and hit the stores. Bought a Cuisinart grinder that wasn't very expensive but neither was it too cheap (been down that road before--not worth it). Ground some beans the next morning. Aroma--mmmmm. Taste——— now THAT'S coffee!!
I think I've found the dark coffee I've been on safari for. Wonderful in my on-stove Bialetti. I look forward to it every morning.
So thumbs down AND thumbs up! (Highly recommend Ring of Fire!)
I LIKE IT, BUT MY WIFE DOESN'T
cdevilbiss | Fri, 12/23/2011 - 12:39Very full-flavored, great in a moka pot.
It's a bit too dark for my wife, however, so we haven't gone through it as fast as others.
I LOVE THE SMOKEY AFTER
glenys099 | Sun, 11/27/2011 - 19:43I love the smokey after taste this bean leaves in your mouth.
DELICIOUS!
madeline.m.ginn | Thu, 11/17/2011 - 08:20This is a delicious coffee! It's deep and rich and doesn't have an after taste.
AMAZING!
gdemeglio | Tue, 11/01/2011 - 16:37I mix Mexican Chiapas and Ring of Fire for the most amazing blend of coffee that I have ever brewed - full-bodied, lively, great aroma, yet not acidic. I've received many compliments and will be ordering both beans regularly.
SO RICH AND FLAVORFUL
samlaffey | Tue, 11/01/2011 - 10:23This coffee is a unique experience from start to finish. First, we opened the box it shipped in and were smacked in the face by an overwhelmingly fresh coffee aroma- exciting!
Then, upon opening the bag, and examining the beans, we encountered these rich, dark, sticky coffee beans that were different than anything we've seen before. After grinding the beans we watched them brew in the french press and they bloomed like nothing we've ever seen before--we had to work quickly to ensure all the coffee goodness didn't overflow out of the carafe.
Finally, we tasted. Before I could even articulate why I liked it or what the flavors were, I looked to my partner after the first sip and just said "mmmmmm." It's a balanced deep flavor that really wakes you up in the morning! We love this coffee and will certainly buy again.
DARK, YES, NOT SO SURE LOW ACID..
carunning | Mon, 10/17/2011 - 21:06This is a decent dark roast--like I've seen in other reviews, it is reminiscent of Starbucks dark roasts, so if you like those, it'd be great. I think there are some burnt beans, personally, that give a bit of a wang to the bitterness. I think that of Starbucks dark roasts, too, though. I also get more sour notes than I would expect in a low acid brew, which I was under the impression this was. All in all, its ok. I might buy it if I saw it in a store, but I don't think its worth the extra shipping cost when buying over the internet.
DEEP RICH FLAVOR
Jazdup | Mon, 09/12/2011 - 13:00Very bold flavor.
Deep and rich tones.
It is an extremely oil bean, so if your grinder jams up with oil beans, consider another bean.
It has an aftertaste that doesn't stay long on the tongue, but at least it has an aftertaste at all, which I find lacking in most beans.
The acid is low.
I have experimented with this blend to "blend the blend" . I mix it with another blend which has an even more bold flavor. I am presently mixing the two blends at different % amounts to see what different tastes I can get.
Ring of Fire is a keeper.
RING OF FIRE
rotunda | Tue, 08/16/2011 - 12:17This is a great every day coffee, perfect balance
NOT AS ROBUST AS EXPECTED
Maupinman | Thu, 08/11/2011 - 10:08I was hoping for a more robust "French roast" type flavor than this coffee delivered. It was good and smooth but I wouldn't recommend it for someone seeking a seriously robust dark roast.
VERY INTERESTING TASTE!
elainemak1 | Thu, 07/21/2011 - 18:38This coffee is delicious. I first tasted it at a Dean's Beans talk that I attended, and I liked it so much that I had to buy it. It's dark and smokey, and has an interesting flavor.
RING OF FIRE
juanajava | Wed, 07/06/2011 - 15:32REally like this blend. It is smokey and delightful! The only downside is that a certain song sticks in my head everytime I brew it!
ANOTHER HIT FOR MY BELOVED INDONESIAN COFFEES
TracyRowan | Tue, 06/21/2011 - 00:08Ring of Fire is a big, scary name for a coffee as smooth and rich and mellow as this. It has a subtle bitter almond quality at its freshest, but that does fade as the coffee is exposed to air. This is a coffee for people who think of coffee as luxurious and sensual, not for gulping down for a fast energy fix. (Though I suppose it would work, it just seems a shame not to savor it!)
If you like Sumatras, I think you're going to like this coffee.
A VERY DARK ROAST WITH A
harvsch | Fri, 04/22/2011 - 15:35A very dark roast with a smoky taste. I really liked this coffee, it is strong and I enjoyed the unusual flavor. I had to adjust my brewing method for this one. It tended to froth too much for my vacuum pot. I would definitely buy this one again
RING OF FIRE
Vboostman | Thu, 02/10/2011 - 18:40I expected a harsh, firey taste-kinda hoped for it. Rather light, instead, with a delicate fruity hint. I was pleasantly suprised-very tasty!
RING OF FIRE
wdols | Sat, 01/29/2011 - 21:10Got to be the best. After all the blends and want to bes this is the real thing!
DEANS BEANS - RING OF FIRE
Lisa | Tue, 10/12/2010 - 13:36This is a good coffee. Strong, full body and full of flavor. Of all the coffees I have obtained recently my father likes this one best. He takes his time to drink his coffee and sometimes it sits for a while. The flavor held up and no bitterness formed. It is on the list of coffees to be purchased in the future.
RING OF FIRE
thekla17 | Mon, 07/05/2010 - 02:20This is a great, dark roast coffee, lots of flavor. Will buy again for sure.
