Madan Estate is a family-owned and operated coffee farm in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. It is grown on a high plateau at elevations over 5000 feet, with two distinct harvests per year, meaning fresh crop beans are always in season. Only beans at their peak ripeness are selected and carefully processed with meticulous attention. The result is a perfect representation of coffees from this part of the world: beautifully full-bodied with low acidity. Complex, sweet and beguiling. In the cup, rich tones of sweet, dried tobacco leaf interplay with a hint of spicy cloves.

Madan Estate is a Rainforest Alliance certified farm, a third party certification overseeing varied aspects of environmental sustainability and traceability. The coffee is considered passive organic, grown without the use of synthetic pesticides. The Brown Coffee Company has had a deep business connection with Madan for over four years and purchases, roasts and sells the coffee from Madan Estate through a farm-direct relationship.

I admit this coffee didn't have my full attention when it was in its prime, but I did enjoy it for the most part. Got a little prune in the wet aroma. A spicy cup, light and crisp. Kind of an apple cider thing going on. Plummy. Tobacco notes more pronounced as it cools.

This is a good coffee, I got a nice acidic kick to it that makes it a nice breakfest coffee and gets a little sweet as it cools. I strongly recommend it for drip or manual brewing, however perhaps a little too bright for me to enjoy it as an espresso.
