Complex fragrant notes with a lingering bittersweetness. Aromatic scents created in the islands rain forest seep right from your nose through your veins. Hints of almonds and vanilla. Medium brown appearance with no oily sheen.
PLEASE NOTE: The lack of oil on the surface of the beans doesn't indicate a lack of freshness--only in a darker roast do the aromatic oils rise to the surface. In a medium roast, they are still contained inside of the beans.
In a re-sealable bag with a freshness-conserving one-way valve and clear back.

Well, we don't participate in award, or coffee cupping shows. Cowardice is certainly not the reason. Taste is highly subjective and has to be developed individually. Award shows however, attract a notoriously insecure customer base. They are gone with the next 'winner' of the next show. Our customers word to friends and colleagues is simply much better advertising. Participation, with the high chance of winning a Kona Coffee Award would also be unfair to our faithful regular fans, as limited production of a farm coupled with the high demand after winning, always increases prices. And hence would irritate our steady supporters, who had discovered us on their own.
Award shows have a place as a marketing tool to attract crowds to trade shows, magazines, events and such. But don't let them prevent you from exploring what you like or not.

BLUE HORSE KONA MEDIUM
debbie558 | Sat, 11/19/2011 - 11:18This has a great flavor, I just prefer a darker roast. I didn't realize it was not that strong until after I ordered it and then read the reviews. But still a great flavor.
BLUE HORSE

BLUE HORSE KONA MEDIUM ROAST
Lorie52 | Tue, 07/19/2011 - 09:02Ahhh. I love Blue Horse Kona coffees. The rich flavors bring back my fond memories of Hawaii. I prefer the Dark Roast for myself, because I like the hearty coffee flavor in the morning, but for guests who prefer a more mellow cup, the Blue Horse Kona Medium Roast is perfect. My son says that of all the coffees I've served him, the medium roast tastes like coffee smells...which is quite a compliment coming from him. We love Blue Horse Kona!
BLEND VERSUS ORIGIN
Blue Horse Kona Coffee | Tue, 05/31/2011 - 13:39Aloha CARRINOE,
Thanks for ordering from us! And for your compliments as well :-) Much appreciated. Just a quick note: There's much confusion out there what a BLEND in coffee is. Ours certainly is not a "blend" (mixture of beans from various regions) but pure 100% Kona coffee from our farm alone. The experts call when coffee or wine comes from one farm 'Single Estate" . And "Single Origin" when it is from different farms, but from one region only ( like Kenya, Kona, Colombia, e.g.). Blue Horse Kona Coffee is both.
Sometimes roasters do a great job by mixing/blending various coffees to balance the overall flavor profile. But be especially careful when it comes to "Kona Blends"! This is where sadly the customer is being duped and inferior coffees are sold to you at an inflated price with the respected Kona name. 90% to sometimes 100% of other cheap beans are marketed without telling anywhere on the package where they are actually from. Compare it to the idea of a Hyundai with a Rolls Royce emblem on the hood, for the price of a Cadillac. We Kona farmers are getting hurt by practices like that and need your support by spreading the word.

BLUE HORSE MEDIUM ROAST
tiff.brown989 | Tue, 12/28/2010 - 13:09My husband and I both enjoy the flavor of the Blue Horse. It has such a smooth taste and no acidic after taste. Wonderful flavor!
WORTH CHECKING OUT
Jamie | Sat, 05/08/2010 - 10:13My tongue was struck with a wonderfulness just from the first sip. The first thing I notice is the woody note which is the most well known note in the coffee. Behind that is a nice bitter-sweetness. There is a woody like aftertaste that lingers around for an all around really great coffee.
