There was a slight taste of hazelnut, probably because the beans were ground in a machine that had not been properly cleaned after grinding flavored coffee. For some folks, this might not have been too disturbing, but for me it was not acceptable. I personally do not enjoy any flavored coffee, but hazelnut is especially offensive. Unfortunately, the artificial flavor that is generally used is particularly persistent and therefore difficult to clean up from a grinder. I'm going to assume this was a one-time problem, and I'm going to give Chickadee another chance.

suziq | Thu, 05/06/2010 - 11:49A friend is a chef from down south and recommended this as an after dinner drink. Chickadee is the only organic chicory coffee I could find - kudos to the roaster! It is really a very fine coffee with a good taste and flavor, there is no overpowering chicory - I'm sure there is less chicory than you get from you know who. I love the smell! Slightly nutty aroma. Great with salads or dsert like pecan pie!!

I've never had a smoother coffee with chicory, smells great and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. This has always been a big New Orleans favorite and I'm glad to see it now made with organic coffee.
