Vibiemme Double Domo Super Manual Espresso Machine reflects Vibiemme’s recent upgrade – 2011 version 3 - of their Double Boiler line. One of the main requirements was to design and build a dual boiler espresso machine that would not have any compromises at 15 amps electrical service when compared to 20 amps.
Vibiemme Double Domo Super Manual Espresso Machine Features:
• Double boilers - the user can operate a coffee boiler and steam boiler independently of each other.
• PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) allows user to manage temperature control of the coffee boiler. If you are not sure what PID is, here is an overview.
• Small water reservoir at 1.2 liters allows approximately 20 double shots to be extracted without a refill - refill can occur on the fly while the machine is operating.
• OPV (over pressure valve) feeds excess water pressure to the drip tray and not the water reservoir - allows operation of the direct water connection without having the reservoir fill with overflow water, get moldy, and require constant emptying and cleaning.
• The drip tray can be drained manually or connected to a drain WITHOUT purchasing any optional kits.
• Insulation on coffee and steam boilers helps save energy
• Only up to 15 amps required without any additional switches or internal adjustments.
• Commercial-grade motor and rotary vane pump with ability to make a direct water connection or use a water reservoir on the same machine. Includes stainless steel braided hose with 3/8" male thread.
• Note: We have decided NOT to offer no-burn steam wands because the typical internal diameter is about 50% less than a normal steam wand, and this usually affects performance times in steaming. In addition, the grouphead has a much greater area to get burned.
Vibiemme Double Domo Super Manual Espresso Machine Specifications:
• Amperage requirement below the 15 amp mark using 110-120 volts - making it easier to find a connection in any household without needing a dedicated 20 amp circuit, and to minimize energy consumption.
• Vibiemme’s Power Management Control System (PMCS) automatically regulates variable power to each heating element by an innovative method of controlling the percentage of power to the heating elements.
• Heavy duty true Vibiemme E61 group head maintains active flow of water from the grouphead to the heat exchanger in the boiler
• Professional grade brass portafilters - one portafilter with single spout and single filter basket and one portafilter with dual spout and double filter basket
• Coffee boiler capacity/material: 0.5 liter copper boiler
• Steam boiler capacity/material: 1.9 liter copper boiler
• Boiler pressure gauge indicates steam boiler pressure. The setting can be varied by adjusting the pressurstat - please note the body panel has to be removed as there is a new international safety standard that Vibiemme has manufactured this machine under, and the standard requires that no access port be allowed for changing the pressurstat setting.
• Pump pressure gauge to indicate brew pressure during espresso extraction (reading will vary while not extracting)
• Multi-directional stainless steel steam wand on left side can be moved in different directions
• Multi-directional stainless steel hot water wand on right side can be moved in different directions
• Power indicator light on right side indicates when the machine is powered on
• Heating light on left side indicates when espresso machine is heating
• Low water level light in middle indicates when water level in water reservoir in rear is low
• Three-stage power switch allows user to operate espresso machine with coffee boiler only, with steam boiler only, OR with both boilers simultaneously (awaiting confirmation once shipment arrives)
• Jaeger pressurstat monitors boiler pressure in steam boiler.
• Extremely large stainless steel drip tray which can be removed for cleaning easily (slides out with pull of handle). Grate stays on machine when pulling out drip tray so that it is one step removal to empty.
• GICAR branded electronic water level control and reacts to a .02 of C of temperature change in the coffee boiler
• Rotary vane pump and commercial-grade motor is quieter than a vibration pump, but it is more expensive to replace, so de-scaling is important
• OPV (over pressure valve) opens when too much pump pressure exists; located in rear of machine with easy access when body panel and six (6) associated screws and divider are removed. Although the pump has an adjustment screw for regulation, the OPV is an additional feature to manage overflow that may be caused by overpressure from the water company when the machine is plumbed in.
• Accessories: Single spout portafilter, single dose filter basket, double spout portafilter, double dose filter basket, blind filter basket for back-flushing, plastic coffee scoop, and a common useless plastic tamper (please make sure to order a good tamper)
• One year parts warranty limited to manufacturer's defect handled by importer's service agent, and labor warranty handled by reseller
• Water reservoir capacity: 1.2 liters
• Dimensions: 10.6" W x 21.0" D x 16.5" H (approximate)
• Product Safety Listing: UL Commercial for home and office use (please note that NSF approvals have not been applied for use in coffee shops, restaurants, and other foodservice establishments. Please check with your local health department if NSF is required for your foodservice establishment)
• Electrical: 110 volts only, 2100 watts, 15 amp maximum needed
• Shipping weight: 82 pounds
• Recommended maintenance: Back-flush with detergent once every fifty extractions; de-scaling coffee boiler once a month to keep temperature probe clean; and, de-scaling steam boiler once every three to six months. De-scaling can be performed through reservoir mode to avoid disconnecting the water supply line.
• Direct water connection requirement: connection must be made to a cold water supply line only.

DOUBLE SUPER
intrepid510 | Wed, 01/18/2012 - 02:12Honestly it appears this machine has it all.
First of all it has all the features you would expect to have from a machine at this price point, double boilers, a PID (for adjusting brew temp), E61 brew head (allows for a forgiving espresso pull) and a rotary pump.
However, there are some things that I believe make it stand out first the OPV goes down all the way into the drip tray, doesnt sound a like a big deal, but if you look at a Quickmill it doesn't go down as far thus water sprays all over your machines. Next up, plumb or not doesnt matter because you can do either other machines out there require you to do so or make you pick this one you can have it both ways. Oh and lets forget no anti-burn steam wands, they cut down on steaming power why would you want that?
BEST
samuellaw178 | Fri, 12/30/2011 - 09:36This is one of the best double boiler out there! It has E61 group and the shiny body panel. Definitely a looker and performer! If you want to get any better than this machine, you have to fork out another 6k for GS3. ANd that only provide you a small advantage over this Vibiemme. In short, this machine is an excellent home machine!
ONE OF THE REAL CONTENDERS
Wakeknot | Thu, 12/29/2011 - 22:41It is hard to think of a feature that this machine does not have. It mostly comes down to taste at this price point vs the rivals, but it would be very hard to say another one of the 2-3k dual boilers was better!
BEST IN CLASS
EricBNC | Wed, 12/28/2011 - 00:02The Vibiemme Double Domo is a feature packed dual boiler espresso machine - the E-61 group head and build quality along with commercial grade components combine to maker this a destination machine for the serious espresso enthusiast - it only get different from here but not likely any better.
AWESOME MACHINE
billman1020 | Fri, 04/29/2011 - 21:33Awesome double boiler machine!
I got my machine as a demo unit at a significant discount, and have been using it for about 7 months. I absolutely love the machine, and it completely cured any desire I had for a better/nicer/easier-to-use/etc machine. I love the double boiler, and the PID temperature control is perfect. Highly recommend!!
