The brand new iMini is a superb burr coffee grinder from Ascaso, a company that specializes in commercial and domestic coffee equipment. Its compact size makes it ideal for home use, and it sports a veyr solid construction.
Turning the knob on the side of the grinder allows the grind setting to be adjusted to any point on a continuous scale from the finest to the coarsest setting. This is known as stepless adjustment. This feature allows very small adjustments to be made very easily - making it one of the few grinders that can achieve the perfect grind setting for making espresso.
The body of the black i-Mini is made from aluminium which is then powder coated to give a durable black finish. The body of the aluminum i-Mini is made from aluminium polished to a shiny finish. When these grinders get wet near your espresso machine, there is no rust!
The hopper is made from clear plastic and holds approximately 250g of coffee beans. The hopper just lifts off for washing, and the top of the grinder is easily removed to allow access to the burrs for cleaning. Please make sure to remove the beans from the hopper prior to removing the hopper.
The ground coffee is dispensed directly into your portafilter handle from the chute. Simply hold the portafilter handle against the button on the front of the grinder to activate the grinding mechanism. If you do not use an espresso machine, you can dispense the coffee into a small cup or container.

REVIEWS & COMMENTS
AN EXCELLENT GRINDER!
Son Ton | Sun, 05/27/2012 - 13:48This is a really solid grinder for espresso. If you are on a tight budget, this would be a go to grinder with will produce satisfactory result. It is much better than a Rancillio Rocky.
DECENT ENTRY LEVEL GRINDER
samuellaw178 | Sat, 12/24/2011 - 19:05This is a pretty good espresso grinder. however, it's probably difficult to use it for other coffee brewing method because of the worm drive. You would need to turn the knob many times to switch between different grinds.
GOOD GRINDER
EricBNC | Fri, 11/18/2011 - 07:09Good grinder for espresso on a budget - will definitely grind fine enough for espresso.
VERY NICE GRINDER
QUESTER | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 05:53It is fairly loud and a little messy, but that's why it's in my basement. Sometimes it gets clogged and requires me to open it up with a screwdriver (one screw) and clean it out. But it's very simple inside -- easy to clean, to maintain. I use it for espresso and drip and I can easily grind it fine enough to choke my machine, or to get a nice cup full of crema.... and this with a used Gaggia cheap consumer machine. All in all a nice solid grinder (almost nothing plastic except for the hopper) that should last a long time.
ASCASSO I-MINI MINI REVIEW
miro | Thu, 01/07/2010 - 23:58The only reason for not giving it highest rating is lack of
grind setting indicator which makes it difficult to use this
grinder for different types of coffee machines or preparation techniques at the same time.
Stepless grind adjustment is ideal for finely tuning grinder for
your particular espresso machine so if you don't plan to use it
for anything else lack of indicator is not an issue.
On the other hand adding something such as digital grind indicator
although technically possible would probably make i-Mini less
affordable.
I was able to easily produce satisfactory grind level for both
FrancisFrancis X3 and Gaggia Evolution machines I use at home and at work. Results with these low end consumer machines prove the fact that having a good freshly roasted coffee and an adjustable grinder are more important than having the best espresso machine.
Other than that ascasso i-Mini has solid construction, looks good,
takes very little space and price/performance is excellent for an espresso lover.
