BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT AND MAKES GREAT COFFEE
swsimmons | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 10:21I like chazaano coffees and figured I would give this a try. Home grinding beans and using the french press is great. I got an electric tea kettle which boils water super fast and then use the french press. 4 cup model is great for1 person. I would go larger if you plan on serving multible people. The model is sturdy and cleanup is easy, the hardest part is waiting 4 minutes for the delcious chanzano coffee to brew.
GLAD I HAVE ONE
swsimmons | Wed, 06/29/2011 - 09:07I was first introduced to the Moka pot 3 years ago from friends that came over from austalia. They were making fun of my weak drip coffee I was making at home. Once I tried the moka pot I was hooked. I had better luck using more water, using a fine grind (almost an espresso grind) and more coffee than I thought I would need. Once i haad all this figured out (and that I need to keep stove on low) I had really good strong coffee with almost espresso like crema on top. Please note you will need to dry all pieces thoroughly to aviod pitting in the aluminum. This is also a great backup when my espresso machine is broken or when I am camping. I have tried other moka pots but this one is not only more authentic bast works the best so far.
GAGGIA BABY TWIN
swsimmons | Tue, 04/26/2011 - 13:02Solid semi automatic machine that produces great espresso. A lot of commercial components and stainless steel body gives it that 'prosumer' feel. Heats up to temp rather quickly due to the small boiler. The fact that the heating elements are outside the boiler is a benefit in that they won't succumb to corrosion. Can get good to great shots quite consistently. Clear water tank allows you to see how much you have so you don't run out. good size drip tray is another plus. Warm up is quick.3-Way solenoid valve is nice feature. Doesn't take up a lot of room on kitchen counter. Stainless Steel construction is nice.
FIRST TIME TRYING ECCO

ECCO DRAK ROAST - VERY IMPRESSED
swsimmons | Wed, 10/13/2010 - 09:03I ordered both the ecco dark organic espresso and the regular espresso. The dark organinc 7 days past roast had soo much chocolate and was sooo sweet. I was blown away. Varied temp between 196 and 200. Settled around 197. Worked ok with small amounts of milk as well.
