  • 12 OZ PITCHER

    rotwang | Thu, 06/30/2011 - 15:01

I'm able to easily make microfoam with this pitcher, and it's a great size to froth milk for a single Cappuccino without wasting milk. Cleans up well, never had any problem with mine.

  • GAGGIA PURE

    rotwang | Thu, 06/30/2011 - 14:51

The Pure has served me well for over a year as a good entry-level machine. It's ready to brew in about 10 minutes Learning to temperature surf has helped me get reliably good shots. In my case I brew 10 seconds after the temperature light comes on, and I start streaming milk BEFORE the light comes on so that the element is on the whole time. I'd suggest to anyone planning to make milk drinks with a Pure or Color to get rid of the plastic froth-aider wand that comes with the machine. Learn to use the short "stub" underneath, replace it with a plastic "latte art panarello wand" available from several vendors for about $20, or replace the entire steam arm with one from a Rancilio Silvia. A good burr grinder is a must with this (and all) machine. After mediocre results with a Capresso Infinity, I got a restored vintage KyM hand mill which improved my shots greatly.

  • ECCO ESPRESSO

    rotwang | Sat, 10/02/2010 - 16:57

As others have said, these beans need to rest. When "too fresh" there was a strong vanilla/raw sugar taste that was too sweet for me. After a few days rest I enjoyed this a lot. I'd order this again for cappuccinos, but I'd probably go with another blend for straight espresso.

  • DOLCE

    rotwang | Thu, 09/16/2010 - 14:13

This was a little "finicky" with my equipment, as others have said, but less so than Vita. I drank this mostly as straight espresso, and more often than not the shots were smooth and sweet with lots of crema. The small bags are cool and the shipping was speedy. Will order again.

  • VITA

    rotwang | Thu, 09/16/2010 - 14:02

Made delicious, smooth cappuccinos...when the shots were "on". Maybe a bit sensitive to high temps? I occasionally got very bitter shots on my Gaggia Pure. Lots of crema and a very nice caramel taste in milk.
