There is no glass carafe to break The double-wall steel design keeps a more stable brewing temperature than glass designs. It's more expensive than other french presses, but if you never have to replace it, isn't it worth it? rock on
SIPHON IS GREAT; CANDLE NOT SO MUCH
pabstd | Sat, 03/10/2012 - 07:26I love the siphon pots from Yama - they are high quality and beautifully designed. Although the vacuum pot process of brewing can be difficult to master, it can be a rewarding and fun process. In particular, it makes for great show and is a great way to brew coffee for guests after dinner, etc. However, I do not recommend using the candle burner that comes with this model. The candel is not effective or efficient as a heat source and will not give you the necessary flame / heat control that is necessary to great vac pot brewing. Instead, I recommend using the butane burner that is also available. With an adjustable, high powered flame, you can brew relatively quicly and you have complete control over the flame, giving you better brewing temperature control. rock on.
