The house espresso came to me three days after roast, but was pulling like stale beans from the get go. 10 seconds and a half oz. into the shot it'd go blonde. Tried different grind settings, temperatures, tamping techniques etc, but couldn't pull a decent shot. Upped the dose to 18-18.5g from my usual 17g and it was just tolerable when pulled very short. Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe my technique is bad, but I've since switched back to my go to bean and I'm getting amazing shots once again.

jrbruin | Wed, 06/30/2010 - 18:17I was excited to try this roast, as I'd heard good things. I'd also heard that it's very particular, and now I must say that I agree. Many of my shots ended up bitter, with only a few of them living up to the namesake of Dolce. I wanted to like it, but can't say that it agreed with my setup as much as some other blends. I really liked that it came in 2 half lb bags, and that I received it within two days post-roast - just couldn't get it to shine on my setup.
