SIMILAR BLEND
jacksonball | Sun, 06/06/2010 - 05:18Like other Mr. Espresso coffee's Ive tried, this is one is roasted fairly dark and doesn't pack much complexity. It is very smooth and easy to drink with a very mild citrusy/acidity to it.
TAME EAST AFRICAN
jacksonball | Mon, 05/31/2010 - 17:40Much like their GG blend, the origins of this coffee are muted by the darker roast leaving it in more of a comfort food type state. If you are looking for chocolate covered berries here, I would move on. If you are looking for something that is easily palatable or you're sensitive to acidity and brightness - this could easily be a great pick. It mixes ok with milk and doesn't do too bad in a cappa - which is just as well because you won't be missing a lot as this makes a dull straight shot. It doubles down in the pour-over for a cup of drip in the same fashion as it does espresso. You could bring this one into the office and not worry about it "falling on deaf ears" so to speak since it lacks complexity and character. It does make for an easy going cup which could be brewed to please most "casual" coffee drinkers easily.
TABLE RED WINE
jacksonball | Mon, 05/31/2010 - 17:30This is a very easy going blend for espresso. Not acidic, bitter or bright in any way, can come off as boring. It does carry some light fruit notes underneath a comfort food body. If other, more intense espresso's have knocked your lips off, this is an easy to please blend. I would liken it to a Table Red Winde - something that is sure to not offend anyone but liable to bore the real enthusiast. Mixes well with milk. Likes to be ground a lot finer than most blends you're used to. A very fluffy grind as well so you may find yourself needing to downdose a gram or so. This espresso packs a medium to light body and crema. Interestingly enough, one can detect the wood roast flavor which is kinda fun and unusual. Cheers, ~j
SOLID BLEND
jacksonball | Sat, 05/01/2010 - 14:23Medium Body with a Floral and Citrusy taste folled by a light milk chocolate/caramel finish. Works well as a straight shot and stands up well against milk. Brewed @ ~200*. 19g. 1.25oz shot.
BERRY BOMB!
jacksonball | Thu, 04/15/2010 - 18:17This coffee makes a stunning SO espresso and equally good brewed coffee. As an espresso, I dosed it at 19 grams, pulled it towards the hotter side and found it to make a very sweet, berry flavored shot that was eventually followed by chocolate in the aftertaste. The berry flavors seems to carry over when brewed as coffee as well making it difficult for one to decide which way to enjoy it. As such, I can see keeping this coffee on hand often. Cheers, Jackson
