  • SMOOTH, RICH AND FRUITY COFFEE THAT SOOTHES THE PALATE

    Nick Usborne | Sun, 08/23/2009 - 09:54

Guatemala Ocana amazed us with its rich, smooth flavor. We ground the beans, brewed the grinds immediately and let the coffee cool for a few minutes. Guatemala Ocana is a fabulous find. It’s the finest coffee we have tasted since we reviewed a batch of 100% Blue Mountain Coffee. It has everything - a rich, deep taste with fruity undertones. There is nothing about this coffee to be uncertain about. Every element blends together in perfect balance. It has strength, subtlety, variety and more...without any disconnect between the different flavors. For us, this will never be an everyday coffee. It’s the kind of coffee we’ll drink only when we have occasion to sit down, relax and really taste and appreciate it. A little like taking care to find the right moment to enjoy a really superior bottle of wine. We love this coffee!

  • SUMATRA DANAU TOBA IS A DELIGHT AND RARE TREAT

We ground the beans, brewed the grinds immediately and let the coffee cool for a few minutes. What a wonderful coffee. It is very smooth and sweet, but filled with a rich range of undertones. This isn’t a coffee you brew to get a massive caffeine jolt first thing in the morning. It’s a coffee to savor and enjoy. Stop whatever else you are doing, close your eyes and just savor the aroma and taste. There is a slight acidity there, not sharp, but enough to wake up your whole mouth. There is a sweetness there too. Maybe a touch of citrus. After adding a touch of cream, we could imagine enjoying this coffee over and over again. It’s rare to find a smooth and naturally sweet coffee that still delights with such a broad range of subtle aromas and flavors.
