About me:A coffee lover since childhood, I've been roasting and blending my own coffee beans for years. I adore single origin coffees, and love experimenting with different brewing methods that bring out the best in each varietal. Despite the high-flown language and my love of specialty coffee, I'm not a purist or a snob -- coffee is for everyone, and I like it that way.

I did appreciate the note in one article that this study was NOT funded by coffee companies. That's something I've always been skeptical about. The most interesting part of the study to me was that the strongest benefit was associated with 2-5 cups a day. The benefits drop off slightly for both men and women at 6+ cups. That means I'm right in the sweet spot with me 3-4 cups daily.
I'M AN OLD FOGEY...
Chamie | Wed, 05/16/2012 - 19:23...having hit the half-century mark a few years ago, and I drink coffee whenever the urge strikes. Of course, I've never had regular sleep hours -- even as a kid I was regularly up and out walking around at 3 o'clock in the morning because I was wide awake and the silent house was a lot creepier than the streets and the woods. I will often have a late espresso if I need to stay up late working on a project and I'm feeling sleepy, though.
JUST WAIT...
Chamie | Tue, 05/15/2012 - 18:06...give it enough time and you'll be having barista battles in the kitchen. Sounds like a lot of fun!
HMM...
Chamie | Tue, 05/15/2012 - 16:08My first experience with pour-over was a plastic Melitta mug-top cone that I've had since 1982 when I bought it at a yard sale for $.50 and which I had to figure out how to use myself. Given that and the fact that my father made me learn how to drive his manual before he'd let me test for my drivers' license and that I taught myself to knit doing a personally-designed 4-color Scandinavian intarsia sweater, I'd probably go for the Hario. I never pick the easy way out. And seriously -- you do luck into the sweetest deals!
SUCH A GREAT PLACE...
Chamie | Fri, 05/11/2012 - 13:41...you had to review it twice? I have to say, the shots definitely do sound like they were worth repeating.
