Why Colombian Coffees are Well-Loved
What Colombian coffees are known for are strong aroma, heavy body and bright acidity. This is the aroma that has become so well-loved and so strongly identified with coffee in general. The Arabica beans possess a distinguishable taste that results from the superb growing conditions offered by the physical characteristics of the country. Its location in the very north of South America, in the tropics, means it has the perfect climate for coffee farming. The region boasts warm weather and lots of sun. The mountainous area with volcanic soil contributes greatly to successful coffee cultivation and distinct flavor. Colombia’s neighbor to the southeast, Brazil, is a rival in coffee production, having similar growing conditions which favor – and flavor - coffee. The rainforest provides even more special qualities which are imparted to the coffees grown there. ROASTe includes rainforest grown coffees in its Colombian coffee collection.
In South America where the coastal area rises quickly to the mountain heights, as it does in Colombia, there is a good basis for agriculture. Add to the high altitudes and dry air the rich volcanic soil which provides good drainage and you’d have a hard time finding a much better environment for growing coffee. Colombian coffee growers benefit from these factors and have been able to produce a large quantity of well-respected beans. Colombia’s coffee farmers have a tradition of selective harvesting, adding to the quality of the coffee.
Colombian Coffee Variety on ROASTe
With Colombian coffee it’s possible to produce a variety of products. ROASTe offers both decaf and regular options. The decaffeination procedure is most often accomplished by the Swiss Water Process or another natural water process. If you like single origin coffees you’ll be happy with this region’s beans.
There also are many Supremo varieties, which regards bean size but also usually means a higher quality as its title suggests- supreme! It’s important to note that coffee from South America has varied in quality in recent years. ROASTe only offers the best quality and you can be assured of the artisanal quality of our products from Colombia.
